Warsaw’s airport is around 10 kilometres from the city centre so it’s a straightforward journey by pre-booked transfer or taxi.

There are also buses and trains from the terminal, taking 25 to 30 minutes to reach the city centre. For getting around Warsaw and its main attractions, you may find you can manage it all on foot. However, a reliable public transport system, complete with buses, trams, subway trains and local SKM trains, means there are plenty of options for getting out and about.

You’ll also find a hidden gem on the roof of Warsaw University Library. The rooftop has been transformed into a vast garden with ponds, a fountain and sculptures – and you can enjoy some of the best panoramic views over the city during the summer.

Visit during winter months when the frosty weather and the Old Town’s traditional good looks set the scene for the annual Christmas market, complete with an outdoor ice rink.
