Changing your booking

You can change your booking up to 14 days before travel for a fee. See your amendments and cancellation fees here.

If you amend your holiday to one that’s more expensive, you will need to pay the difference. If you amend your holiday to one that’s cheaper, we’ll refund the difference.

Please note: Amendments fees may apply to the flight element of your package. Details on amendment fees related to the flight element of your package will vary depending on the type of ticket booked - this was shown at the time of booking and will be re-confirmed when making any changes.

Additionally, if your package booking includes a non-changeable/non-refundable hotel no amendments are allowed. This would also have been highlighted during the booking process on the room selection page and will be stated on your hotel voucher, if applicable. You can view/print your hotel voucher in Manage My Booking (see the ‘Print non-flight voucher’ link in the Quick links section at the bottom of the page).

Cancelling your booking

If you cancel more than 28 days before travel you will lose your deposit, if more than 72 hours before travel and up to 28 days before travel you will lose 60% of the total package price. If cancelling within 72 hours of travel, you will lose 100% of the booking value.

Please note: If your holiday package includes a non-changeable/non-refundable hotel, there will be no refund due. This would have been highlighted during the booking process on the room selection page and will be stated on your hotel voucher, if applicable. You can view/print your hotel voucher in Manage My Booking (see the ‘Print non-flight voucher’ link in the Quick links section at the bottom of the page).

If your flight has been cancelled or if major travel restrictions are imposed you are eligible to claim a refund, regardless of your booking or travel dates find out more.

You can request to cancel a British Airways Holidays booking for a full refund if your flight has been cancelled, your booked accommodation has been closed, or new major travel restrictions have been introduced after your booking that prevent non-essential travel to or from your destination. If a requirement is introduced to complete a period of mandatory quarantine of 12 hours or more in a designated hotel upon return to your country of origin as a result of your trip that cannot be avoided with a negative COVID-19 test, vaccination or self-isolation at home you will be eligible to request to cancel your trip for a refund, find out more.

How do you redeem your voucher?

Vouchers are now valid to use for travel dates up to 30 September 2024 (previously 30 September 2023) – travel must be completed by this date. To use your British Airways Holidays voucher, please see instructions on your voucher confirmation email.

What bookings were eligible for a voucher?

Bookings made from 3 March 2020 for journeys that were due to have been completed by 30 September 2022. From 13 July 2022, this included bookings made on or after 8 June 2022 that were previously ineligible.

However, if your flight has been cancelled you are eligible for a refund, regardless of your booking or travel dates.

When can a booking be exchanged to receive the voucher?

It is no longer possible to cancel a booking in exchange for a voucher. Date changes and voucher exchanges requested for British Airways Holidays (flight + hotel and/or car) package bookings could only be made for travel completed by 30 September 2022 a minimum of 7 days before departure, regardless of when you booked. Vouchers issued can now be used for travel up to 30 September 2024 (was previously 30 September 2023).

Can your voucher be converted to a cash refund if your original flight is subsequently cancelled?

No, if you have taken a voucher, it cannot be converted to a cash refund in the event that your original flight does not operate.

How do you use a voucher?

To use your British Airways Holidays voucher, please see instructions on your voucher confirmation email.

Can the voucher be used on any holiday destination?

Yes, the voucher can be used on any holidays sold by British Airways Holidays. A minimum of 7 days notice is required if making a hotel-only reservation.

Will the voucher you've requested in exchange for your British Airways Holidays package be ATOL protected?

ATOL protection applies to confirmed package holidays originating from the UK and selected EU countries, therefore once you have exchanged your voucher for a future Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car booking, that holiday will be protected under the ATOL scheme. A credit voucher from cancelled British Airways Holidays package bookings will therefore not be ATOL protected until redeemed for a new package holiday reservation.

Can you use the voucher to pay some or all of the balance on an existing holiday booking?

Yes, a voucher can be used as part payment on an existing booking.

When does the voucher expire?

Voucher/s now expire on 30 September 2024 (was previously 30 September 2023).

Your voucher can be used as payment, or part payment, for a new future booking. Your new trip booked using your voucher must be fully completed by 30 September 2024 (departure and return).

If you have an existing voucher with an expiry date prior to 30 September 2023 or with an expiry date showing 30 September 2023, please note that your voucher will be automatically extended to 30 September 2024, you do not need to contact us.

Does the booking have to be made in your name?

For British Airways Holidays bookings, one voucher per booking was issued. The vouchers are non-transferable, but we recognise that some of the original customers may no longer be able to travel - so we ask that the new booking contains at least one of the travellers from the original booking.

What happens if you book a holiday that’s cheaper than the value of the voucher?

We’ll issue a refund of the price difference.

What happens if you book a holiday that’s more expensive than the value of the voucher?

You’ll need to pay any difference if the new holiday is more expensive.

Will the voucher have any new booking restrictions?

Holidays booked using vouchers will be subject to the new booking’s regular Terms and Conditions.

Can I use a British Airways flight-only voucher towards a new British Airways Holidays booking?

Yes, you can use either a British Airways flight-only future travel voucher or eVoucher towards a new British Airways Holidays booking.

Unfortunately, this is not currently possible on ba.com. To make a new booking with British Airways Holidays using a flight-only voucher please call our contact centre.

Can I use a British Airways Holidays voucher towards a new British Airways flight-only booking?

Yes, you can use a British Airways Holidays voucher towards a new British Airways flight-only booking.

Can you combine your voucher with Avios towards a new hotel, car or holiday booking?

Yes. From April 2023 you now part-pay for your holiday using your Avios points. Avios can be redeemed when booking your holiday, they cannot be used to pay for instalments or to clear the final balance. Please call our contact centre if you would like to make a new booking using your voucher credit and Avios.

Can I use the eVoucher reminder tool on ba.com to check the balance of my British Airways Holidays voucher?

The reminder tool on ba.com is for eVouchers issued on flight only bookings only. You can find the value of your British Airways Holidays voucher(s) on the confirmation email you were sent when your voucher was first issued. If you're still unsure or have partially redeemed, please reply to the voucher confirmation email and we'll provide an update of any remaining available credit.

Are British Airways Holidays vouchers refundable?

Under our Book with Confidence policy, British Airways Holidays vouchers cannot be exchanged for a refund. However, if you've been unable to spend a British Airways Holidays voucher that was issued one year ago, this will be converted to a cash refund. You don't need to contact us, we will automatically refund it on your behalf.

Can I ask for my voucher to be refunded if it's not yet one year from when it was issued?

Vouchers issued within the last year remain valid and we're unable to accept requests for refunds. Current vouchers give you the flexibility to rebook and complete your travel by 30 September 2024 (was previously 30 September 2023).

Will a voucher refund be instant when it reaches one year from issue?

We're proactively refunding our oldest vouchers that are already, or are approaching, one year old (based on month of issue) and are working through these in date order. However due to variations in processing time, it may not be exactly one year from date of issue. If we process your refund ahead of this, we'll let you know by email. If it reaches one year from when your voucher was issued and you've not yet heard from us, you can contact us by replying to the original email we sent when we issued your voucher, and we'll fast track a refund within 7 days of your request.

Are vouchers eligible for refunds one year to the day, or month, of issue?

Vouchers are eligible for refunds based on their month of issue. For example, if your voucher was issued on 31 May 2020, it becomes eligible for a refund on 1 May 2022. Due to variations in processing time, some refunds may be completed ahead of this. While we can only commit to a refund once we've reached one year from the original issue month, if your voucher is refunded ahead of this we'll send you an email to confirm it's been actioned.

You've refunded one of my vouchers, but I have others, will you refund those too?

We're proactively refunding our oldest vouchers that are already, or are approaching, one year old (based on month of issue) and are processing these in date order. Vouchers issued within the last year remain valid and give you the flexibility to rebook and complete your travel by 30 September 2024 (was previously 30 September 2023). If your more recent vouchers remain unspent after one year from issue and we've not already confirmed an automatic refund, you can contact us by replying to the original email we sent when we issued your voucher and we'll fast track a refund within 7 days of your request.

I spent my voucher which would have been one year old. Can I cancel the holiday I used it for and have a cash refund instead?

Only vouchers that are unspent are eligible for refunds, so the standard conditions apply for bookings already made with vouchers. We're pleased you've been able to rebook and hope you enjoy your trip with us.

What happens if the payment card I used originally has since expired?

Your refund will still be returned to the account associated with the original card. If you have since closed your account completely, you'll need to get in touch with the bank to arrange for the funds to be sent to you.

My circumstances have changed since the voucher was issued and I don't want the money to be returned to the card that was used at the time. Can you divert the funds elsewhere?

Under payment card terms, we can only refund the original account the funds were debited from. You'll need to contact your bank if you've closed your account or agree the distribution of funds with any other party members as applicable.
