Sofia is one of Europe’s best destinations for travellers on a budget. The Borovets Ski Resort has some of the country’s best runs and is the second largest resort in Bulgaria. It’s just a 90-minute drive from Sofia and among the cheapest in Europe.

The most famous is in the very heart of Sofia, right next to the Central Public Bathhouse.

The easiest way to travel to and from Sofia city centre is by using the metro, which runs from Terminal 2 and takes around 30 minutes to reach Sofia Central station. Once you get there it’s easy to move around the city, with plenty of low-cost options available including public buses, trams, and the metro underground network.

If you hold a passport from a country or territory outside of these areas, you may need to apply for a visa before you travel.
