Flights to Tivat

Direct flights from London to Tivat take just under three hours.

British Airways operates direct flights to Tivat from London Heathrow, mid-May to late September.

Tivat’s popularity peaks in July and August during the summer holidays, so it should be cheaper to fly in May, June or September when there’ll also be fewer crowds.

Tivat’s Mediterranean climate means summers are hot with little rainfall, so you’ll be able to soak up the sun all summer long. If you’re looking for milder weather so you can hike and explore the countryside while breaking less of a sweat, visit in late May or June.

Like most European coastal areas, Tivat can be pricier during the peak summer months as visitors flock to the local beaches. Tivat’s Porto Montenegro is home to high-end boutiques and restaurants, so prices are often higher here – especially if you’re dining or drinking with a view. However, you’ll generally find prices are cheaper in Montenegro than many other popular spots across the Mediterranean.

You’ll find great value for money if you head a little further away from the port and try the family-run eateries. Pick up some locally made Montenegrin wine and burek to enjoy on-the-go.

Once you land at Tivat Airport, you’re just a 10-minute taxi ride to central Tivat, or around a 15-minute ride if you’re staying in Kotor. There are buses that can connect you to local towns, but taxis are your best bet for a quick and easy ride.

Getting around Tivat and exploring the beaches can also be done by taxi. You can flag one down in the town or pre-book a ride with your accommodation. There’s a bus service for journeys to local towns like Kotor and Budva if you’re venturing further afield.

The area was home to early ancient Greek and Roman settlements, served as an important Medieval port, came under Venetian rule and was also an Austro-Hungarian naval base. Visit Tivat’s Naval Heritage Collection Museum for a fascinating insight into the local area.
