You’re going to Switzerland, but flights to Basel actually land in France. Within minutes you are in a Rhineland town where (other than English) German is the dominant language.
It’s a gateway to the Black Forest in one direction, Alsace in the other, and the Swiss Jura in a third. Borders don’t mean very much here, but holidays in Basel itself really offer something different. The city combines winding medieval streets with cutting edge architecture. You can be sipping fine wines with rich bankers on the terrace of the Trois Rois one night and going on an ex-pat pub crawl the next.
In less than 90 minutes you can be in Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, “the only tri-national airport in the world”. Flights to Basel with British Airways are the most comfortable way to begin exploring this incredibly varied region.
When you fly with British Airways, you can choose a departure date that suits you and you’ll enjoy a safe and comfortable journey. Our cabin crew will be happy to help you with anything you need, so you can simply relax. Choose to fly with hand baggage only or pick a price that includes a 23kg checked baggage allowance and free seat selection 48 hours before you fly. You can also buy delicious food from British food favourite M&S, on board all flights from/to London Heathrow and London Gatwick. For your convenience we will only accept payment by credit/debit cards on board, and Executive Club Members can pay with Avios via the British Airways app.
No airport offers easier access to the city centre than Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Pick up a bus or taxi to take you into central Basel in about five to 15 minutes. Check in to your hotel, then give your legs a workout on the steep lanes of the handsome old town.
There’s a very competitive duty free offering in Basel airport, with brands including Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Burberry, Carrera, Emporio Armani and Tag Heuer. Level Five is one of the classier airport restaurants and there are nine other cafes and drinks outlets dotted around.
