Fly to Zagreb with British Airways and begin your adventure in the Upper Town.

The city is split in two, and this half – the old town – is centered around St Mark’s Square. It’s home to a historic church, several of Croatia’s government buildings and the spot where the Cravat Regiment Guard performs their changing of the guard. Nearby you’ll find some of the city’s best museums and the Dolac market, Zagreb’s open-air farmers market.

If you feel like stretching your legs and want to see some of Croatia’s beautiful scenery, hike through the nearby Medvednica Nature Park up to Medvedgrad Castle and enjoy the panoramic views.

The other half of the city, the Lower Town, is the more modern side of Zagreb, packed full of stylish cafes, bars and restaurants. Book your holiday to Zagreb today.

Zagreb flight FAQs

A flight from London to Zagreb Franjo Tudman Airport takes approximately two hours and 10 minutes.

Zagreb has hot summers, making it a popular time of year to visit. To avoid higher prices and crowds, book a trip for late spring or early autumn, when cheaper flights and quieter attractions are more likely. The weather is still very comfortable for exploring. Use our low fare finder to find the cheapest time to visit.

Compared with other European capitals, Zagreb is a very affordable destination, but you can adjust your budget to fit the type of trip you’re looking for. There are plenty of hostels and lower-priced hotels if you’d rather spend your euros on activities. You can keep costs down on those too by visiting spots with cheap tickets, like the quirky Museum of Broken Relationships. Check the entry details of places on your itinerary before you visit, as some museums are free to enter on certain days of the week. Most of all, Zagreb is very walkable, so you won’t need to spend money on taxis to see the sights.

You can take a shuttle or local bus from the airport into Zagreb, or a taxi straight to your hotel. They’re available outside the airport terminal, and it takes about 40 minutes to reach the city centre.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to see more of Croatia. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Zagreb offers up an alternative to some of Croatia’s more well-known cities and towns, but it doesn’t scrimp on the charm that makes the others popular. Once you’ve ticked off the long list of history and beautiful architecture on offer, it’s easy to while away an afternoon sipping on a coffee in the sunshine outside one of the many cafes that line its streets. The city is also geared up for nature lovers, with hike-ready landscapes on its doorstep, and the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park just a couple of hours away.
