Flights to Accra

A flight from London to Accra’s Kotoka Airport takes approximately six hours and 35 minutes.

The weather in Accra is warm all year, thanks to its close proximity to the equator, but it has a wet season and a dry one. The winter months, November to February, are the driest, and in December the city turns into a giant party, with a host of events and festivities taking place. This can make prices go up, so to avoid them – and the winds blown in from the Sahara at this time of year – have a look for flights outside of those months.

Whether you’re splashing out or counting your pennies, it’s easy to make your trip to Accra fit your budget. Visit the markets to pick up street food and souvenirs – you can haggle with stall owners to get great prices. Attractions are often also free to visit, or charge just a small entrance fee.

It takes about 25 minutes to reach Accra’s city centre by car. If you take a taxi, make sure it’s a licensed one. Alternatively, if you’re staying in a hotel, your accommodation may offer a pick-up service from the airport.

Accra’s a vibrant and exciting city, home to some of Ghana’s historical highlights, all-night parties and relaxing beaches. During the day, learn more about the country at the National Museum of Ghana. Then in the evening, sip cocktails at the top of the Alto Tower, the tallest building in West Africa. And if you want to escape the city for a while, the photo-ready Boti Falls are just a couple of hours away from Accra’s buzz.
