A flight from London to Cairo takes approximately four hours and 50 minutes.
Use our low fare finder to find the cheapest flights to Cairo. Summer is sweltering in Egypt, so most tourists tend to visit during the winter, causing prices to rise at this time of year. If you can stand the heat, you might save some money by visiting during the summer months instead. Or, for lower temperatures and prices somewhere in-between, book a trip during spring or autumn.
Head to Cairo in the winter for the best weather for exploring. December and January are the busiest months, so travel in October, November, February and March for pleasant temperatures without the crowds.
With a bit of planning, you can make a trip to Cairo fit any budget. The city’s old town, known as Old Cairo, has plenty of sights that are free to visit, and you can fill up hungry stomachs by browsing the food carts and independent restaurants. You can travel from Cairo International Airport by bus or taxi. Buses take about an hour to reach the city centre and taxis take around 40 minutes.

Step back in time on a trip to Cairo. See Mummies in the Egyptian Musuem and visit one of the oldest areas of the city, Al-Muizz Li-Din Allah Al-Fatima Street. It’s home to a line-up of historic monuments. You can also walk across the Nile River using the Qasr el Nil Bridge, or sail down it on one of the river’s famous cruises.
Citizens of the UK and Ireland and EU passport holders do not need a visa to visit. If you hold a passport from a country or territory outside of these areas, you may need to apply for a visa before you travel.
