Best time to visit France
Each season offers something different in France. The best time to visit depends on your plans, whether that’s skiing in the Alps or relaxing on the coast.
- Peak season (June to August): Visitor numbers are at their highest, with both locals and international travellers heading for the coastal resorts.
- Shoulder season (April to May and September to October): Mild weather and fewer visitors make these months a great time for hiking, cycling and wine tasting.
- Low season (November to March): Tourist numbers and prices typically fall across much of France. The exception is in the mountains, with both the Alps and Pyrenees hosting keen skiers into early spring.
