Brazil flight FAQs

A flight from London to Brazil takes just under 12 hours.

We fly direct to Brazil from London Heathrow.

Winter and early spring are the most popular seasons to visit, so book your flights in late spring and summer if you want to pay less for your flights, but still enjoy warmer weather and plenty of festivals.

The best time to visit Brazil depends on the activities you’re interested in. The warmest months are usually between November and March, and they’re perfect for enjoying the New Year and Carnaval celebrations or going on a beach holiday along the coast. Mid-summer to early autumn is a great time to explore the Amazon Rainforest as it’s dry season, which is the best time for wildlife watching.

You can enjoy everything Brazil has to offer on any budget. Visit off-season in the spring and summer to avoid higher prices for hotels and activities. If you’re planning a city break, look out for food vendors serving local dishes at reasonable prices and do as much exploring by foot as you can. Spend a few days on the beach for a budget-friendly and relaxing experience. And if you’re heading off on an Amazon Rainforest adventure, do some research before you go on places to stay and book guides that suit your budget.

Public transport in Brazil is modern and efficient, and many of the larger cities like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have extensive subway systems. Look out for multi-day metro passes to save money. Buses are also easy and cheap to use for city or long-distance travel. There are also plenty of licensed taxis that can be booked through apps.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of the city and see more of what Brazil has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

A country of beautiful white-sand beaches, luscious rainforests, buzzing metropolises and diverse ecosystems, there’s something for everyone in Brazil. Enjoy the delicious food, rich culture and discover the country’s festivals throughout the year for a taste of the authentic Brazilian way of life.

You can book a hand baggage-only ticket or make the most of our generous baggage allowance. If you choose economy standard or one of our British Airways Holidays’ packages, each passenger can check in a bag weighing up to 23kg – in addition to a handbag, laptop case or other small bag. Families travelling in any cabin with younger children can also check in one car seat and one fully collapsible pushchair. Read more about baggage allowances for children.

If you’re flying in our business cabin, you can check in two bags weighing up to 32kg each. Read our baggage guide for full details.

Citizens of the UK and Ireland and EU passport holders do not need a visa to visit Brazil. If you hold a passport from a country or territory outside of these areas, you may need to apply for a visa before you travel. You can find out more about visa requirements for all the countries we fly to on our visa information page.

Discover outstanding service from the moment you book. Fly with just hand baggage and you can carry two bags free of charge. Choose our checked baggage option and you can travel with hand baggage and a 23kg bag checked into the hold, plus enjoy free seat selection 24 hours before you fly. On board you’ll find HEPA-filtered air, quality on-board catering, and a warm, uniquely British welcome.

Simply relax and let us take care of you, every step of the way.
