Companion Vouchers now make your Avios go further on holidays

Until 31 March 2027, British Airways American Express® Companion Vouchers can also be redeemed when you use Avios to part-pay, or pay for your entire holiday package with British Airways Holidays.

British Airways American Express® Cardmembers can now use their Companion Voucher with British Airways Holidays. Simply pay with Avios when you book your holiday to reduce the cost of your holiday. Then complete our online form to tell us you want to use your Voucher, and we’ll credit 25% of your redeemed Avios back to your account. Offer ends 31 March 2027.

  • Receive up to 50,000 Avios back when you use a Companion Voucher earned with a British Airways American Express® Credit Card
  • Receive up to 200,000 Avios back when you use a Companion Voucher earned with a British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card

For example, use 40,000 Avios on a holiday to Tenerife and you’ll get 10,000 Avios returned to you.

How it works:

  1. Browse our site and find your perfect holiday package – no need to choose Reward Flight seats, any holiday package is valid
  2. Book a British Airways Holidays package and use Avios to pay for your holiday
  3. Submit your details through our online form to let us know you'd like to use your voucher on your booking
  4. We’ll deduct the Voucher from your account and credit 25% of your redeemed Avios back to your account within two working days of receipt

Yes. You can now redeem your Companion Voucher when booking a Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car with British Airways Holidays. Please note, the lead passenger must be the Companion Voucher holder. To do this you will need to:

1. Choose and book your holiday at ba.com/holidays, as you normally would, using Avios as full or part payment,

2. You will then need to submit your booking reference and other details using our online form within 72 hours,

3. We’ll then credit 25% of the Avios you redeemed back to your account within two working days.

Those with a British Airways American Express® Credit Card Companion Voucher will receive up to 25% of their Avios back, up to a maximum of 50,000 Avios, and those with a British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card Companion Voucher will receive up to a maximum of 200,000 Avios back.

For example, use 40,000 Avios on a holiday to Tenerife and you’ll get 10,000 Avios returned to you.

Bookings need to be made and the form needs to be submitted by 31 March 2027 when the offer ends.

You do not need to book a Reward Flight when booking a holiday package. You can travel on any eligible flight that forms part of a British Airways Holidays package, regardless of if there’s Reward Flight availability on that flight or not.

No. Your voucher only needs to be valid at the point of booking. Unlike using your Voucher on a Reward Flight, you do not need to have flown your outbound flight before your Voucher expires. You can travel any time after your Voucher expires, provided the Voucher used was valid when you booked your British Airways Holidays package.

You may choose any class of travel for your booking, regardless of which type of Card you hold, and still receive 25% of your Avios back. The only difference between the two Voucher types is the cap on the amount of Avios you could receive back. Vouchers earned with a British Airways American Express® Credit Card have a cap of 50,000 Avios, whereas Vouchers earned with a British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card have a maximum of 200,000 Avios.

Yes. Even if your British Airways Holidays booking features airlines other than British Airways you can still use your Voucher against it to receive your 25% Avios credit.

Yes. You will earn tier points based on the total cash price of your holiday package (excluding any charges payable at the accommodation) before the saving using Avios and the Companion Voucher was applied.

When you choose to redeem a Companion Voucher against your holiday booking and fill in the claims form, you will be asked to provide the Companion Voucher number that you wish to use for your booking.

Companion Vouchers will be removed from your account within two business days.

Don’t worry, the Companion Voucher will be debited from your account within two working days from the online form being submitted.

Once you have made your British Airways Holidays booking, you must complete the claim form within 72 hours. Upon completion of the form, we aim to action the rebate within two working days.

If you use your Companion Voucher for a Reward Flight before the claim form has been processed and the Voucher debited, you will not receive any Avios returned to your account.

Yes, when redeeming your Companion Voucher on British Airways Holidays, your booking can be for up to nine people. Simply select the number of travellers you’d like to book for (minimum one adult) and complete your booking. After your booking you can complete the Companion Voucher form and 25% of the Avios you used to pay for your Holiday will be awarded to your British Airways Club account. The discount cap remains the same no matter how many people you book for.

The 25% Avios is credited back into the same account that it was taken from. This will either be the lead passenger, or their household account.

There is no minimum spend required to use your Companion Voucher. This applies to both cash and Avios, however, each Voucher can only be used once.

If you cancel your holiday, the refund you receive will depend on the type of booking you made:

  • Fully refundable bookings: You will receive a refund of any Avios, cash, and any British Airways American Express Companion Voucher used, with the original expiry date.
  • Partially refundable bookings: You will receive a refund of the applicable part cash and Avios portion only. Your British Airways American Express Companion Voucher used will not be returned.
  • Non‑refundable bookings: No cash, Avios, or British Airways American Express Companion Voucher will be refunded.

Refunds of Avios, cash, or any British Airways American Express Companion Vouchers will be completed within 5 working days. If you cancel your booking after your Voucher’s expiry date, your Voucher will not be returned to you.

Companion Vouchers are only valid for new bookings made after the offer start date 20 May, and cannot be applied retrospectively.

Terms and Conditions

1. The following terms and conditions (the “Terms”) set out the terms that apply to the British Airways American Express® Companion Voucher with British Airways Holidays Offer 2026 (the “Offer”). Please make sure you read these Terms together with the usual Companion Voucher Terms and Conditions, which contain important additional terms, including information on Companion Voucher terms, validity and benefits.

2. This Offer is available to all British Airways American Express® Companion Voucher holders (“You”) from 20 May 2026 to 31 March 2027 (“Promotion Period”).

3. You may use your Companion Voucher during the Promotion Period for a 25% refund on the Avios used to pay for eligible British Airways Holidays packages (see Clause 4) up to a maximum number of Avios (see Clauses 9 and 10).

4. Eligible holidays are British Airways Holidays packages (Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car) booked through ba.com (or via a British Airways Contact Centre).

5. The Companion Voucher must be valid at the point of booking. If the Companion Voucher expires after booking but before processing, the booking remains eligible provided it was valid at the time of booking.

6. You must have sufficient Avios in your British Airways Club account at the time of making a booking to cover the full (non-discounted) Avios required for the booking.

7. Once you have made your booking, the claim form available here must be completed within 72 hours of booking to receive a refund of Avios equivalent to 25% of the Avios used for payment. Following the submission of a valid claim form, we will credit the Avios to your British Airways Club account within two working days. Your Companion Voucher will be deducted from your British Airways Club account at this time.

8. If there are multiple Companion Vouchers on the Member’s British Airways Club account, the Companion Voucher that you nominated in the claim form will be applied.

9. Those with a British Airways American Express® Credit Card Companion Voucher are able to redeem one Companion Voucher per booking, and receive a refund of up to a maximum of 50,000 Avios.

10. Those with a British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card Companion Voucher are able to redeem one Companion Voucher per booking, and receive a refund of up to a maximum of 200,000 Avios.

11. Bookings made with this payment option will be subject to the standard Booking Conditions associated with the holiday purchased.

12. The Offer can only be applied where the full holiday booking is eligible for Avios part or full payment. For more information on Avios as payment for a holiday with British Airways Holidays, visit the British Airways Club Conditions of Use.

13. When Avios have been used as full or part payment, the Avios will be refundable only where the holiday is refundable. Partial refunds of holiday payment will be credited to your Avios account up to the value of the original full or part payment, with any remainder credited to your original method of payment.

14. If you use your Companion Voucher before the claim form has been processed and the voucher debited, you will not receive any Avios returned to your account.

15. If your British Airways Club account has not been credited with the 25% Avios from your booking within 2 working days, you can contact us at 0344 493 0750. This number can also be found on the back of British Airways American Express® Cards; ‘For Avios enquiries.’

16. If you cancel your holiday, the refund you receive will depend on the type of booking you made:

a. Fully refundable bookings: You will receive a refund of any Avios, cash, and any Companion Voucher used, with the original expiry date.

b. Partially refundable bookings: You will receive a refund of the applicable part cash and Avios portion only. Your Companion Voucher used will not be returned.

c. Non-refundable bookings: No cash, Avios, or Companion Voucher will be refunded.

Where you are eligible for a refund and the booking is cancelled after the 25% Avios has been applied, you will receive a refund of 75% of the Avios used in the initial transaction. Applicable refunds of Avios, cash, or any Companion Vouchers will be completed within 5 working days.
