What are Avios?

Avios is the loyalty currency of the British Airways Executive Club and our partners.

Collect Avios on flights, online shopping, hotel bookings and even your weekly shop. With over 1,500 partners across fashion, travel and finance, the possibilities are endless.

Once you’ve collected enough, take to the skies and spend your Avios on flights, discover incredible hotels, sip on your favourite wine or experience unforgettable adventures.

Claiming missing Avios

If you find you’re missing some Avios or Tier Points on your account you can claim them back within six months of your flight.

New members can even claim Avios and Tier Points for any British Airways flights flown in the three months before joining.

You can claim for most flights using our online claim form. You'll need to know your ticket number.

Call your local Service Centre if:

  • You can't find your ticket number
  • You're claiming for an upgrade that was paid for with money or Avios over the phone, or with cash at the airport
  • You're claiming after being re-routed on to another service with another carrier

Avios expiry rules

Your Avios won't expire as long as you collect, spend, buy or share at least one Avios every 36 months.

If you don't collect or use your Avios at all for three years, your Avios will expire and be removed, so remember to take action before that time's up.

Or you can download the British Airways Executive Club Rewards app to keep track of your Avios and search for Reward flights, hotels, car hire, experiences and more.

Spend your Avios on Reward Flights to any worldwide destination, seat upgrades, hotel stays, car hires, memorable experiences and more.

You can also reduce the price of regular flight bookings by paying part of the price in Avios. The more Avios you use, the less you have to pay.

We can credit Avios and Tier Points for flights that have been flown within the last six months or up to three months prior to the date you joined the Executive Club.

Please wait three days from your date of travel before submitting a claim.

If you want to claim missing Avios from transactions with non-air partners, or those you collect through shopping, visit your account.

Yes, you can convert Avios to Nectar points and vice versa by linking your British Airways Executive Club account to your Nectar account.
