Plan a holiday in the Maldives

Breathtaking beaches

If you are keen to visit the Maldives, you must be a beach lover. Wake up to heart-stirring pastel skies at sunrise and pitter-patter along powder soft sands to the water’s edge. The Maldives beaches are unrivalled in their paradisiacal perfection. With azure lagoons, perfectly turquoise shallow seas, deep indigo oceans and pristine sands, you’ll feel like you have arrived in heaven on earth. Claim your spot on the soft shores on a much-needed lazy day, sip on cocktails as you unwind in a hammock and take a dip to revitalise when the heat gets too much. Leave footprints in the sand as you tread along the shore and watch the sky catch fire at sunset. Come nightfall, lay back for a spot of stargazing.

Top tip: Most resorts are located on their own island with beach villas available, so you’ll be guaranteed a beach haven wherever you choose to stay.

A wonderland of water sports

The islands of the Maldives are surrounded by an aquatic playground, so choose from an array of water sport activities on the Indian Ocean. Spend adventurous days in utopia gliding across the water on a paddle board or skim along the crystal waters in a kayak. In the need for speed? Jump on a zippy jet ski, catch the breeze as you windsurf or hang ten as you surf on endless swells. Enjoy a thrilling speedboat ride, maybe even trailing behind on a doughnut ring or yellow banana boat. Then go parasailing and soak up the sights from above. At the end of the day, treat yourself to a sunset catamaran cruise.

Top tip: Sail over the shimmering waters to see wild dolphins and docile whale sharks in a traditional wooden Dhoni boat for the ultimate getaway story.

A hypnotising underwater world

The incredibly clear and warming waters of the Indian Ocean, make the Maldives an absolute treasure for snorkelling and diving experiences. Snorkel in the beautiful lagoons alongside sea turtles, swim with exotic fish and glide over colourful coral reefs. Look out for playful dolphins, magnificent manta rays and smaller sharks of the shallows. Scuba dive a little deeper to see the vivacious marine wildlife in some of the world’s best dive spots. Beginners can take a PADI course in the Maldives, while qualified divers can head straight out to explore the underwater magic. See the vibrant reef life, drift just a few metres away from turtles and watch rays soar above you. If you spy them, you will also be mesmerised by the gentle, giant whale sharks.

Top tip: If you don’t want to sign up for a PADI course, you can complete shorter scuba diving lessons that will allow you to safely explore the enticing waters within hours.

In the deep

Just one percent of the Maldives is made up of land – no wonder it's a water sports paradise.

Soothing spa experiences

Further indulge on these isles of serenity by relaxing during pampering spa sessions. With life’s simpler pleasures of sun, sea and sand, find tranquillity in the Maldives. You will be peacefully lulled during a beachside massage or special treatment in a stilted water villa. With signature products at many resorts, you can relish tropical ingredients like papaya extract in an enriching body scrub, revitalising facial or soothing full-body massage. Truly unwind as you immerse yourself in an underwater treatment room and view the surrounding sea life. Once you head back up to the surface, you can sit back in a sauna or watch the world go by as Jacuzzi bubbles caress your skin. Reawaken your senses on an unforgettable, utterly relaxing holiday.

Top tip: Pre-book your spa treatments on arrival to ensure that you are seen. Check out the menu at your resort and select as many treatments as you like for a tranquil time away.

Mesmerising dining

Feast on some of the world’s best seafood and relish unique dining experiences. You will want to savour each bite and every moment. Indulge in tantalising cuisine on a beach, embraced by the warm glow of firelit torches. The gorgeous views will steal your heart. Relish breakfast delights from your own villa porch and look out to the stunning ocean. For tea, you may want to retreat to the cool restaurant. From fresh sushi, juicy tropical fruits, hefty burgers and flavourful Italian eats, the variety of mouth-watering dishes will suit everyone. The resorts also cater for repeat restaurant visits because each island is so small. Their menus vary, and you’ll have several restaurants to choose from; all you have to do is sit back and let your taste buds rejoice.

Top tip: For extraordinary memories, book a dining spot on a private beach or at the end of a pier at sunset.
