Abu Dhabi isn’t known to be especially budget-friendly for visitors, with more than its fair share of luxury international hotel chains and fine-dining restaurants. However, booking an all-inclusive trip can help limit your spending as your expenses are paid upfront.
You’d also be missing out if you didn’t indulge in the city’s street food. It’s an affordable way to get an authentic taste of the city, so make your budget go further by seeking out some kibbeh, knafeh and luqaimat, the sweet dumplings popular during Ramadan.
Once you land in Abu Dhabi, it’s a straightforward journey into the city centre. There’s a 24-hour air-conditioned bus service that runs every 40 minutes from all three of the airport’s terminals. A quicker way to reach the city is by taxi, which takes less than 30 minutes.
When navigating the city centre, most visitors travel by taxi or take advantage of the free shuttle buses that take visitors to and from the main attractions. These services run from the main hotels and the city centre, stopping at Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, the Grand Canal area and beyond.

You can also get away from the city for some peace and quiet in the Liwa Desert. Book a guided tour and go sandboarding or take an overnight camping safari to watch the sun set and dine under the stars.
