Lifetime tier points

Rewarding a lifetime of membership - we give the tier points that you’ve earned in the past, real value in the present.

What are lifetime tier points?

All the tier points you’ve ever earned since you joined The British Airways Club are added up to become your lifetime tier points.

Your lifetime tier points total will increase as you earn annual tier points. Each year, your annual tier points will reset when the new tier point collection year begins on 1 April, but your lifetime tier points will remain.

It’s easy to earn tier points on almost all flights with British Airways and our partner airlines. The amount varies depending on where you fly, the cabin and the fare type. You can also earn tier points towards your annual and lifetime balance in several other ways, including when you pay to choose a seat and on British Airways Holidays packages (where available).

How have your lifetime tier points changed?

We changed the way you earn tier points and introduced a new threshold to reach Gold for life on 1 April 2025.

As a result, we changed all existing members’ lifetime tier point balances so that they reflected the same proportion of progress.

For example, if by 31 March you’d collected 50% of the lifetime tier points needed for Gold for life membership, your new lifetime balance at the start of April was 50% of the new threshold for Gold for life.

Or, if you were already a Gold for life member, your lifetime tier points balance was proportionally transferred, or set to at least 550,000 lifetime tier points, whichever was higher.

Keep track of your lifetime tier points

You’ll be able to see your lifetime tier points balance whenever you log in to your account or receive an email from us, so it’s easy to keep track of them.

You'll continue to earn your tier points each year, as an individual, which open up the rewards of Bronze, Silver and Gold membership. If you think any are missing from your current or lifetime balance, you can submit a claim for missing tier points.

Enjoy Gold membership for life

To reward you for your loyalty, Gold membership for life is yours once you reach 550,000 tier points.

We’ll just automatically renew your Gold membership every year from then onwards so you can always enjoy our Gold benefits.
