Travel with other people made easy
Whilst you earn Tier Points and Executive Club status individually, we recognise that our Members often travel with family and friends. We aim to make travelling with others as straight-forward and rewarding as possible.
Share with a Household Account
If you’d like to make travelling together a more rewarding experience, then perhaps a Household Account is for you. It’s free to create, and means you can pool your Avios with up to six people who live with you, letting you make full use of the collective balance. Even children can join, so everyone in the family can collect Avios each time you travel.
We recommend that all parents/guardians become third party nominees for any Members who are under 18 joining a Household Account. Please see the Manage My Account section of the Members’ Area on ba.com for more information on third party nominees.
Getting started with a Household Account
To set up a Household Account, you will first need to decide who will be the Head of the Household. This person must already be a Member of the Executive Club and will need to complete the application. As Head of the Household Account they will receive all communications about the account and will be the only person who can add or remove Members or change the home address.
It doesn't matter if the rest of the household are existing Members or not: they can sign up as part of the Household Account application process. The Head of the Household will then be able to change Household Account Members at any time.
Everyone in a Household Account will continue to collect Tier Points and move through the tiers of the Club individually, but they can also spend Avios taken from the pooled Household Account. When any Avios are spent, we will deduct a proportional amount from each Member’s balance in the Household Account.
Just like with an individual account, your Household Account Avios stay with you as long as you collect, spend, purchase or share some Avios at least once every 36 months.
There are a few important things to remember about a Household Account:
- Members of a Household Account cannot redeem their Avios for anyone outside of the Household Account
- changes to the registered Household Account address can only be made once every six months
- Executive Club Members must be 18 years or older before they can spend their Avios
Some Terms and Conditions apply.
Family and Friends
Once you have a Household Account, you can create a list of family and friends, so you can spend your Household Avios on more people who are important to you, and who don't live at the same address as you.
Travel companions
When you make bookings on ba.com for other people, their details are automatically saved into a travel companions list. That means you can make bookings for them more quickly in the future.

A. The Family and Friends list allows Executive Club members who are part of a Household Account to redeem for up to five nominated individuals who do not live at the same address.
