What’s the weather like in the Azores?

Due to its mid-Atlantic location, the climate in the Azores is more moderate and a bit wetter than other destinations in Portugal. If you’re looking to swim in the sea, the hottest month is July or August with an average temperature of 22°C. The coldest months are January and February with average temperatures of 13°C. The wettest months are from October to March.

Is it easy to get around the Azores?

Once you touch down in Lajes International Airport (TER), you’re 5km away from Praia da Vitória and 20km from Angra do Heroísmo. Take a taxi from outside arrivals or hop on one of the buses, although you will have to change at Praia da Vitória if you’re heading to Angra do Heroísmo.

Arrive at Ponta Delgada Airport (PDL) and you’re only 3km from the city. Take a taxi from outside arrivals or hop on the ANC Aerobus, a shuttle that takes you to many of the main sites of Ponta Delgada.
