Medieval charm in northern Europe

Fly to Luxembourg with British Airways to discover the capital of one of Europe’s smallest countries.

Swing by the Grand Ducal Palace, the official home of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, which is open to visitors during the peak summer weeks. Next explore the city’s historic Old Town, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its time-stamped fortifications and tunnels – or casemates, as they’re known. The first tunnels were built in 1644 and can still be explored today. Make the most of this walkable city with a wander along The Chemin de la Corniche for views worthy of a fairy tale. Gaze over the river and the historic Grund neighbourhood before an evening of fine dining and a glass of locally produced Reisling. Book your holiday to Luxembourg today.

Luxembourg flight FAQs

Flights from London to Luxembourg take around one hour and 15 minutes.

You’ll find great value flights to Luxembourg all year round, although prices may be slightly higher during the peak summer months. Many visitors choose to visit in springtime when the city is in bloom and the prices may be lower.

Many of Luxembourg’s city hotels and restaurants cater to business visitors and financial workers, so prices can be high. You can save by drinking and dining away from the main streets and city centre.

A huge bonus for visitors and locals alike is the reliable public transport network, which is free to use across the city. You’ll also find that some of the biggest attractions, such as the Notre Dame Cathedral and the National Museum of History and Art are also free to enter.

For far-reaching views over the Alzette Valley without spending a euro, take the Pfaffenthal Panoramic Elevator. This striking glass elevator also serves a purpose – it takes you from the city centre to the Pfaffenthal area down in the valley.

It’s just a 20-minute shuttle bus journey from the airport to Luxembourg City centre. These free buses run every ten minutes during the week and slightly less frequently at the weekend. You can also take a taxi if you prefer – although this option comes at a cost.

Once you’re in the city, you can easily explore the main attractions on foot but there’s also a network of free trams and buses to take you wherever you want to go.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to see more of what Luxembourg has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Luxembourg often flies under the radar as a city break destination, but there’s so much for visitors to discover, from its historic palaces to its striking landscapes.

The Ardennes Forest covers much of the country’s northern areas, where you can hike, cycle and simply enjoy a slower pace of life. Or less than an hour from the city, go for a swim or try out windsurfing in the clear waters of Upper-Sure Lake. Take your pick from six beaches on the lake’s shore where you can bathe and relax against a backdrop of dense forest.

Luxembourg also has a rich history of winemaking, with more 450 vineyards across the country. Sample some of the locally produced wines yourself at the nearby Moselle Valley – a lush and hilly wine region that draws visitors from all around.
