Flight Ready Programme – Autism

Flying can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming, especially for those with non-visible disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. That’s why we’ve partnered with Heathrow Airport to create the Flight Ready Programme – Autism, a free, one-day event to help those with Autism and their families travel with confidence.

O que pode esperar

The day is held at London Heathrow Airport, where you’ll experience key stages of the airport journey that can feel challenging, such as check-in, security and boarding. You'll then take part in the onboard cabin experience, where our cabin crew will take you through what happens onboard our aircraft, such as the inflight service, a safety demonstration and disembarking processes.

At each point, you’ll have the chance to walk through the process, ask questions and learn about the support available.

An overview of the day

Mid-morning

The day will start at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5 where you'll meet the team who'll be leading the event.

Late morning

We start our walk through the terminal where you'll see check-in and security before we break for lunch.

Early afternoon

After lunch, we'll head through the depatures area and to the gates where we'll explain what happens before and after you board.

Mid-afternoon

Cabin crew trainers will guide you through what happens on a flight. Followed by the arrivals process, passport control and baggage reclaim.

Who will be there

You’ll be supported throughout the day by British Airways colleagues from our Airport and Cabin Crew teams, as well as experts from our Global Learning Academy, Heathrow Airport, and our assistance partner, ABM. They’ll share their knowledge and answer any questions you may have.
