Flights to Chambery

Nestled between Turin and Lyon, Chambery’s picture-perfect appeal goes hand in hand with its convenient access to the French Alps. Thanks to the many ski resorts on the city’s doorstep, it’s easy to pair a trip to the slopes with exploring what Chambery has to offer. Once part of the Duchy of Savoy, you’ll spy the city’s Italian past in its elegant architecture and café culture – giving it a distinctly Mediterranean feel despite its mountainous postcode.

The city’s historic heart, the Ville Ancienne, is made up of cobbled streets, hidden Medieval courtyards and alleyways. Wind your way to the centre to see the Elephant Fountain, with the Cathedral of St Francis de Sales just a short stroll away. The religious site is famous for its trompe l’oeil paintings, which create illusions with their lifelike depth.

Chambery flight FAQs

A flight from London Heathrow, London Gatwick or London City to Chambery takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

We fly to Chambery during the winter months, and if you’re looking for the best value, January and March often offer the lowest fares just after the festive rush and just before the Easter holidays. Go in early spring and you’ll still catch the end of the ski season, but with fewer crowds.

Chambery’s location in the heart of the French Alps doesn’t mean it has to cost a fortune to visit. Prices here are generally lower than in larger ski destinations or the bigger cities. Accommodation ranges from quaint guesthouses to boutique hotels, and with plenty of local bistros serving Savoyard specialities at reasonable prices, eating out can feel affordable too. Make the most of the serene setting for less with lakeside walks and visits to the religious sites and historic monuments.

Chambéry-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport doesn’t have any bus links into the town, so your best bet is to hop in a taxi. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the city centre, and once you’ve arrived it’s easy to see the sights on foot.

You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of Chambery and see more of what the surrounding area has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.

Chambery is a city that blends history and culture in an alpine hideaway. It’s a haven for nature lovers and those keen to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're enjoying a local wine in a cosy bistro or venturing into the surrounding mountains for skiing and panoramic views, you’ll feel revived by a visit to this picturesque corner of France.
