Flights to Mexico

Flights from London to Mexico City (MEX) take around 11 hours and 55 minutes, while flights to Cancun (CUN) are shorter at around eight hours and 30 minutes.  

The cheapest months to fly to Mexico are October and November, while the most popular – and often pricier – time to visit is from December through to April.

In Cancun, the Hotel Zone is known for being pricey, but you can save money on flights by planning your trip in advance, or book an all-inclusive holiday package so your essentials, including food and drinks, are sorted before you jet off. Just save a few extra pesos to spend on keep-sakes and artisan wares at the local markets.

Once you land at Cancun Airport, you’re just a 20-minute taxi ride from the Hotel Zone. There’s also a number of shuttle bus services available that can be easily arranged at the airport or by your hotel. 

Mexico City’s airport is not far from the city centre and is very well-connected by bus, hotel shuttle buses and the underground Metro service. Hop in a taxi and you’ll be in downtown Mexico City in around 20 to 30 minutes.

Travelling between Mexico’s main cities is often easiest by bus – especially if you travel by one of the air-conditioned deluxe or executive services that come kitted out with snack bars and Wi-Fi. You can buy tickets at all major bus stations.
