Sydney – Blue Mountains – Bateman’s Bay – Canberra – Melbourne
Drive south from sunny Sydney to stylish Melbourne, taking in Canberra on the way. Before you leave Sydney, head inland a short distance to the gorgeous Blue Mountains. Then head back to the coast, snorkel at famous Bateman’s Bay and spot ‘surfing’ kangaroos at Pebbly Beach. You could drive inland and make a stop in Canberra, the laid-back capital. Head further south and you’re soon driving through winelands on your way to sporty Melbourne.
Brisbane – Airlie Beach – The Whitsunday Islands – Cairns – Port Douglas
Fly to Brisbane and get acquainted with the tropical climes of Queensland. In this state, much of the action is offshore at the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands. From Brisbane you can drive to the resort town of Airlie Beach, where fantastic excursions onward to the Whitsunday Islands await. From Airlie Beach, a day’s drive up the coast will bring you to Cairns, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. If you have time, Port Douglas is even deeper into tropical climes.
The Red Centre Way
Alice Springs – Uluru
Bushwalk your way around the blazing outback in Australia’s dramatic red centre. Remote Uluru is on every Australia traveller’s bucket list, but it’s right in the middle of the outback.
