Flights to Sao Paulo
Sao Paulo doesn’t do things by half. It’s the biggest city in South America for a start – and if you ask the passionate local Paulistanos to describe it, they’ll also tell you it’s the best. While neighbouring Rio de Janeiro might be famous for its beaches and carnival spirit, Sao Paulo is the cultural heartbeat of Brazil, adored by visitors for its chic, cosmopolitan vibe.

Brazil’s stylish megacity
Fly to Sao Paulo with British Airways and discover a destination full of world-class attractions.
Brazil’s second city is home to around 125 museums, the most famous of which is the Museu de Arte de São Paulo. With eight floors to explore, you’ll find works by artists such as Van Gogh, Cézanne, Renoir, Monet and Picasso. The city’s skyline is just as impressive as any vista captured by these artistic heavyweights, so head to a rooftop bar for panoramic views. Down below, wander through the leafy Jardins district with its boulevards with designer shops, and visit the beautiful Parque Ibirapuera, keeping an eye out for the toucans as you picnic beneath the palm trees.
There’s plenty to be enjoyed outside of Sao Paulo too – head beyond the city limits for a day trip to the Atlantic Forest, taking the coastal road to Cantareira State Park for a guided hike through the reserve. Book your flight to Sao Paulo now.

Sao Paulo flight FAQs
A flight from London to Sao Paulo takes approximately 11 hours and 40 minutes.
The best time to pick up cheap flights is between March and May, when Brazil experiences autumnal weather. The days are still sunny and the temperature warm, making it ideal for outdoor activities, but with less humidity and rainfall than the summer months. You’ll also have a good chance of finding cheaper accommodation in the city at this time of the year.
Like any modern city, there are a wide variety of options available to travellers, whether you’re backpacking on a budget or wanting to sample the city’s high-end establishments. Sao Paulo's bohemian district, Vila Madelena, is a great place to enjoy craft ale bars, cafés and street food for less. Check museum websites for entry details too – some operate free admission for visitors on certain days of the week, such as the Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo.
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the city’s famous food markets. The most popular is the Municipal Market of Sao Paulo, known locally as ‘The Big Market’. It operates seven days a week with 300 stalls selling fresh produce and street food, making it a great way to save on the cost of eating out.
Guarulhos International Airport is located 25km from Sao Paulo’s city centre. You’ll need to take a bus to the nearest metro station, Tiete, if you want to take the train into town. Otherwise, you can take a taxi directly from the airport, with the journey taking around 35 minutes.
Sao Paulo’s metro system is the largest urban rail network in South America and offers the best way to move around the city, serving many of the top attractions. You can also take advantage of the bike-sharing system that operates across Sao Paulo, Bike Sampa, with passes available for single trips and longer, three-day travel cards. Taxi services offer a quick and easy way to hop around in the evening.
You can also hire a car with British Airways if you want to get out of the city and see more of what Sao Paulo’s surrounding area has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.
The Samba scene isn’t so much Sao Paulo’s style. Instead, the city is much prouder of the diversity of its exciting cultural offering. As Brazil is only four hours behind the UK, Sao Paulo is a great start to enjoying all the excitement of a trip to South America. Of course, nightlife is still a big part of what brings people here, so head to the city centre districts of Moema Itaim and Vila Olimpia for upmarket restaurants, bars, clubs and clubs. More local places to eat and drink can be found in Pinheiros and Vila Madalena.
