Channel Islands holidays
This collection of small British isles reveal a certain continental flair, thanks to a mish mash of cultural influences from both the British and French mainlands. Jersey is the largest of the islands and also the most tourist-friendly. The other islands in the group are Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. Mild winters and plenty of sunshine throughout the summer make this a prime destinations for beach lovers, but there is far more to enjoy on your Channel Islands holidays.
Our cheapest holidays to the Channel Islands
Your holidays in the Channel Islands offer a wealth of options to enjoy. Jersey, with its lively capital city of St Helier, awash with cultural attractions, fantastic seafood and local produce. Guernsey with its beachside eateries, thrilling cliffside walks and historic museums.
The islands are awash with fascinating World War II history too, with remnants of German occupation still to be found across Alderney’s craggy coastline. St Brelade’s Bay is one of Jersey’s most popular beaches with golden sand, family-friendly facilities and gentle waters. It’s also home to many of the islands’ most impressive hotels. Sample some ocean therapy through guided surf, paddle and flow sessions. The French writer Victor Hugo set his final novel, Toilers of the Sea, in Guernsey having spent many years on the island.

Channel Islands holiday FAQs
- Go island hopping. With a little planning you can easily discover all of the islands, including some small unpopulated ones. Highlights include alighting by boat on Herm, with its microclimate and dolphins, Alderney, with its historic sights and gourmet restaurants or Lihou, for its the tidal Venus Pool, plus RAMSAR wetlands and marine reserves.
- Gaze up at the stars at the world’s first Dark Sky Island, with low light pollution and lack of street lights on Sark. This charming island also has no cars or paved roads meaning you can explore this untouched landscape by bike or even a horse-drawn carriage.
- See Guernsey by bike. The flattest of the islands, Guernsey, rewards cyclists with its many Ruettes Tranquilles (peaceful lanes) dotted across the island. Using these you can see a multitude of sights, including Creux es Faies neolithic grave, the Fort Grey and Shipwreck Museum and on the west coast you can visit the remote, tide-dependent Lihou Island.
- Visit the Jersey War Tunnels and other sites on the islands for a fascinating insight into life on the Channel Islands during World War II. Probably the best of these can be found on Alderney where you can see many bunkers and machine gun posts built by the Germans, alongside the Sylt Concentration Camp.
- Sample some sublime seafood. Local delicacies you must try while you’re here include sweet oysters grown off the coast of Herm, scallops and crab harvested off the coasts of both Guernsey and Jersey and Sark lobster. There are plenty of fine restaurants to try these across all of the major Channel Islands.
- Discover some remarkable wildlife. Each of the main islands is home to populations of distinctive wildlife, including puffins. While on Alderney you might come across unique blonde hedgehogs.
