On the property, there’s an impressive outdoor pool – the largest of all Universal hotel pools, which is complete with a curving water slide, a kid’s splash area, a beach, a hot tub and fire pits. Cool waterfalls and tropical foliage help create a relaxing atmosphere and luxurious private cabanas are available to hire.

The Kalina Health and Fitness Centre is complimentary. Here you will find cardiovascular equipment, resistance weight machines, exercise mats, and a locker area with a dry sauna and showers. Kids will love the Calypso Game Room, with its classic and current arcade games. The vaulted lobby area presents amazing photo opportunities, complete with a stone turret and circular staircase leading you to the pool, three of the restaurants and the water taxi pier.

Amatista Cookhouse TM is the main all-day restaurant, offering an a la carte breakfast and a full-service menu otherwise. Watch Caribbean cuisine being freshly prepared in the open exhibition kitchen and dine indoors or outdoors. Try delicious Caribbean wings, grilled pineapple salad, rotisserie chicken and fresh fish dishes – or order tasty burgers, sandwiches, and flatbreads. The tempting selection of desserts includes Caribbean rum cake or red velvet Caribbean cheesecake.

Drhum Club Kantine TM is a poolside bar which offers a tapas-style menu, with a focus on fresh seafood. The menu includes a section for children, and adults can order signature rum cocktails – like the Drhum Club Punch and Rum Runner – or crushed tropical drinks and frozen cocktails. If you are on the go, you can always head to the New Dutch Trading Co. for speciality teas and coffees, sandwiches, pastries, ice creams and other snacks.

The stylish Strong Water Tavern is a real highlight, presenting a huge drinks menu and an entire wall of rums to choose from. Small plate dishes are also served here – such as ceviche, tacos and curries from around the world. The al fresco terrace features a fire pit so you can dine outdoors throughout the evening, overlooking the lagoon.

For a special experience, you can book a Caribbean rum-themed dinner show (for an additional charge). Enjoy light appetisers, rum samplings, entertainment, and a five-course dinner with Caribbean rum pairings. (Must be 21+ with valid photo ID to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages)
