Housed within an architecturally stunning building, Jalta Boutique Hotel offers a superb base from which to discover Prague’s historic attractions and culture. Spacious rooms and suites are beautifully presented – some feature a terrace or balcony, plus there’s an excellent street level restaurant which boasts a charming terrace. Most notably, the hotel is home to a Cold War Museum, which was formerly a nuclear fallout shelter and is located beneath the property.
This boutique hotel occupies an enviable position overlooking the bustling Wenceslas Square, the top end of which sits the commanding National Museum. Most of the city’s exceptional sights are within three miles and conveniently positioned close together – so can be explored on foot. These include the beautiful Old Town Square with the majestic Tyn Church, the crowd-pleasing astronomical clock – which chimes each hour and the unmissable Charles Bridge. Prague Castle is around four miles away, where you can visit the Old Royal Palace, St Vitus Cathedral and St George’s Basilica, as well as peep into the tiny shops and houses along Golden Lane. Also, you couldn’t be better placed to visit one of Prague’s Christmas markets, which is set up directly in front of the hotel. Prague International Airport is approximately 12 miles away.
The interior is glamorously styled, combining art deco splendour with a more traditional beige and brown colour palette and walnut wood panelling. Rooms and suites are understated, enriched with luxurious fabrics, a sumptuous king-size bed – dressed in 100% Egyptian cotton linen and a spacious bathroom containing complimentary L'Occitane toiletries. Other features include a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities and a well-stocked minibar to dip into for snacks. Deluxe rooms and suites also benefit from an elegant living room and a Nespresso coffee machine.

Other facilities
An unexpected and completely unique feature of this property is the Cold War Museum, housed beneath the hotel. It was once home to a 1950s secret nuclear fallout shelter, used as the headquarters for the Warsaw Pact, then later by the Secret Police to spy on hotel guests and foreign dignitaries. It’s a fascinating museum, that’s spread over two floors, where you can explore the artefacts on display from this era. Additionally, pride of place in the hotel lobby is Andy Warhol's original screen-print of Franz Kafka.
Wi-Fi is free throughout and luggage can be stored.
Dining information
On the ground floor is the hotel’s in-house restaurant, Fat Cat, which offers a brilliant selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Feast on firm favourites like croissants, waffles and pancakes for breakfast, otherwise opt for eggs benedict, an omelette or a full English. There’s plenty of choice for lunch, including hot dogs, toasted sandwiches and salads, while dinner is a tantalising menu of flatbread pizzas, burgers and fillet steak from the grill. Pop by for a coffee or milkshake or enjoy a variety of Czech craft beers from the tasting menu.
