Martinhal Lisbon Cascais Family Hotel is situated between two championship golf courses, Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos, in the affluent area of Cascais. It is around 12 miles to historic Sintra and just 20 miles to the centre of Lisbon. You can catch the train from Cascais station, three and a half miles away, making it easy to combine some city sightseeing with this coastal break. Lisbon airport can be reached in around 23 miles.

All guest rooms and suites feature substantial windows that extend out onto spacious balconies providing beautiful views over the landscaped gardens, pool area or the greens of the adjacent Quinta da Marinha golf course. Deluxe Superior rooms include design bunk beds, while the Suites feature a bedroom that can be separated from the living room by a pull-out wooden screen. Upgrade to a Villa for loft-style living – there’s two spacious bedrooms, each of them with its own en-suite bathroom with shower room, on the upper level, and an open plan kitchen linking to a private terrace below. Each house has its own parking spot too.

Other facilities

The hotel has three pool areas dotted around the resort, providing both heated and unheated options. The Pool Hangout (open from June to September) is a popular spot for teenagers. Or you can kick back in the Finisterra Spa, where you’ll find a selection of signature treatments suitable for all ages, as well as a well-equipped gymnasium, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam rooms to aid relaxation.

For something a little more active you’ll have preferential rates when you tee off from one of the two championship golf courses that sandwich the hotel, Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos. For sports-mad youngsters, tennis and football academies are held throughout the year. There’s also plenty of other activities on and off the water including sailing, kayaking, rock climbing and hiking. There’s also an on-site bike station where you can rent quality bikes and book guided tours.

There’s a superb Kids’ Clubhouse suitable for ages six months to nine years. Sessions can be booked on the Martinhal app up to 24 hours in advance. In addition there are several playgrounds around the hotel grounds if little ones get restless. With the Baby Concierge service you can also pre-book any necessary baby equipment, whether that’s small items such as bottle sterilisers and warmers, to bulkier items like baby cots and baby baths.

Dining information

The hotel’s two restaurants promote authentic regional cuisine, using ingredients sourced from its bio-vegetable patch and the finest Portuguese produce, alongside firm favourites like pizza and pasta. You can be assured they’re both family-friendly too, featuring several dishes marked “Little Gourmet ” which can be ordered as half portions for smaller appetites, along with a variety of fresh purees ideal for babies.

Start and end the day at O Terraço with a buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. The Sunday family brunch is also worth boking ahead for. Or you can enjoy all-day dining at MBAR, which features a dedicated children’s play area. The Lounge Bar is the perfect spot to refuel with a variety of coffees, teas and beverages, as well as a family afternoon tea experience. In the summer you can also expect live music and BBQs at the hotel.
