Grenada holidays
Roughly the same size as the Isle of Wight, Grenada's abundant ecosystem brings famed rum, chocolate and nutmeg to the table, along with an array of other spices and tropical fruits. It's home to inland rainforests, volcanoes and mountains ringed with dream-like white, sandy coastlines. So, dive in and soak up the authentic Caribbean vibe, with seafood and sunsets galore.

Float away to idyllic Grenada
Although much of this Caribbean island remains untouched, it still has plenty on offer in terms of natural beauty, outdoor activities and cuisine.
Peep the life aquatic, whilst snorkelling or diving amongst the coral reefs that swirl with marine life. Watch in awe as turtles lay their eggs, or deep dive towards the underwater sculptures. You can also take in the views during a glass bottom boat trip, if you prefer to stay dry.
Allow yourself to be lulled onto lackadaisical island time. Climb into the rainforests to admire waterfalls and wildlife, or discover how spices are harvested and rum is distilled. Blend into local life by indulging in freshly caught fish and spiced ‘Oildown’ stew with salted meat, plantain and breadfruit. Book your flights to Grenada, with few high-rise hotels you'll find a peaceful preserve for low-key travellers.

Grenada holiday FAQs
1. Critique art at Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park. More than 80 life-size sculptures by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor have been submerged for snorkellers and divers just north of St George’s in Moliniere Bay. But they don’t look the same as the day they were dropped. The artwork has now become encrusted with coral, inviting fish and sponges to settle in, so you’ll be blessed with sea life sightings, too.
2. Go ‘nuts’ at the Gouyave Nutmeg Processing Station. Heavenly wafts of nutmeg will greet you as you approach the village of Gouyave. Tour the large processing facility to learn how the flavoursome pods are grown and harvested. You’ll also likely spy female workers sorting the haul by grade. The tour is a great way to explore the Spice Island of the Caribbean.
3. Sample rums at River Antoine Rum Distillery. The Caribbean is renowned for rum, so you are more than welcome to indulge. Head to the River Antoine Rum Distillery to gain a glimpse into the traditional liquor production method. It has stood the test of time since 1785– and it’s surprisingly still powered by waterwheel. If you work up a thirst learning about the fermentation and distillation process, take time for a tasting session, so you can choose which spirits to bring home as souvenirs.
4. Explore the past at Fort George – despite currently serving as the local police headquarters, you can still visit areas of the historical monument today. Amble around the fortifications, which date back to 1706 and include two barracks, a guardroom and firing galleries. Whilst high on the hilltop, fawn over the views and snap a few photos. Head to the southern section of the fort to ogle the coastline towards Grand Anse beach and set your sights westwards to spy the Town of St George.
5. Visit the House of Chocolate – cacao is another delicious product of Grenada. And the House of Chocolate in St George’s stocks a myriad of sweet treats, all locally grown and made. If you happen to travel in May, you could catch the weeklong Grenada Chocolate Fest. Expect chocolate tastings, workshops and cocoa-infused beverages.
- If you’re longing for pristine sandy beaches, look no further than Grand Anse. This famous beach lies on the south-western coast with golden shores and clear waters. Otherwise, head to the quieter Paradise Beach for palm trees and calm seas.
- Next, trade in your sun lounger for the sights of St George’s, Grenada’s capital. Visit the Grenada National Museum, which is the oldest building on the island, and stroll the Carenage harbourfront to scope out boats tethered to former cannons. You may also find a bite to eat in Market Square.
- Hop aboard a boat for a day trip to Grenada’s little sisters, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. These laidback islands are smaller and quieter than Grenada, with picture-perfect beaches and vibrant reefs. A 90-minute ferry ride will bring you to the Southern Grenadines, which have their own festivals and regatta. Kayak in Woburn Bay to see the iguanas, herons and ospreys of the mangrove forest – or book onto an estate tour for a behind-the-scenes look into processing nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves.
- Up for a challenge? Venture into the mountains and conquer the tallest peak, Mount St Catherine, before heading back down with a refreshing dip in Concord Falls waterfall on the way.
- You can easily settle into an all-inclusive holiday in Grenada – Spice Island Beach Resort has everything you’ll need. Boasting the exclusive AAA Five Diamond Award, this hotel is set on the iconic Grand Anse Beach, and offers floodlit tennis courts, a fitness centre, spa treatments, an array of fine dining options and a supervised area for children aged three to 12 years old.
- If you’re after pure luxury, check in to Silversands Grenada. Its sleek minimalist design and 100-metre-long infinity pool set it a step above the rest. Bonus: all 43 rooms have balconies and Espresso machines. Up the luxe factor by booking your own beachfront villa with private pool. For a more intimate and exclusive vibe, stay in one of 30 designer suites at Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel Grenada. The lifestyle hotel offers weekly activities, such as food tasting and cooking demonstrations, and the good-natured staff have won multiple hospitality awards. You can dine at the elegant Rhodes Restaurant or at the Beach Club and sign up for a spa treatment and unwind at the spa.
- Family fun abounds at Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, just off of Grand Anse beach. Kayaking, diving, windsurfing and snorkelling will keep the water bugs busy. But there are tennis courts and a fitness centre, too. Relax within two whirlpools and a large pool featuring two waterfalls – or accompany your little ones in the shallow end. Refuel at two restaurants and enjoy sundowners at the beach bar.
