Online check-in is a simple process, available from 24 hours before your flight departs. Check in up to nine people in your booking, including infants and children, and your bags too. Confirm your seats using our seating plan and print your boarding pass before you leave for the airport. In just a few easy steps you'll be ready to go. We're making it easier for you so you'll have less to worry about before your trip and less to do once you get to the airport.
To get started, you'll need to enter your British Airways booking reference and your last name into the My Booking section on the ba.com home page. Then click 'Go'.
You may also need to enter Advance Passenger Information before you go.
What's Advance Passenger Information?
The governments of various countries require British Airways to collect certain passenger details prior to travel. If necessary we will provide a link for you to add this before checking in.
Now you'll see all your flights, including connections and return journeys, departing within 24 hours.
Tick the 'Check in now' boxes to confirm the passengers you wish to check in.
If you're travelling in a group, all passenger names will be listed. If you're the only passenger checking in, you'll go straight to Step 2.
Once you're happy with your selections, click 'Continue'.
Checking in groups
You can check in up to nine people on the same booking. For parties of ten or more you'll need to use a check-in kiosk at the airport.
Next, you’ll be asked how many bags you intend to check in. Save time by checking them in before you go. Once you get to the airport, simply take your bags to the Bag Drop and you're ready to go through to Departures.
Tick the box to state you have read the Unattended Baggage message, and then click 'Continue'.
Next you'll see the seats given to you and the travellers in your booking.
If you're happy with the seats you've been given, click 'Confirm seats and check in now'.
If you'd prefer to sit somewhere else you can easily change your seats - just click 'View or change'.
If you have already paid for and pre-assigned your seats at the time of booking, you will not be entitled to a refund if you change your seats.
How can you change your seats?
Just select a passenger and pick a seat. The blue seats are free for you to choose, whilst the white ones are already taken.
You are now checked in. To save time at the airport, on the majority of routes you can also issue your boarding pass as well as those of the passengers travelling with you. If you don't have a printer, you can fax, save or email the boarding pass to be printed later.
Choose an option and click 'Go'.
Which routes let you print your boarding pass?
Check the FAQs on ba.com for details. But don't worry if you're not able to print - you can use a Check-in Kiosk at the airport (where available) or go to one of our Check-in desks to collect your boarding pass.
Not able to print?
You can still check in on ba.com if you do not have a connection to a printer. Simply return to Online Check-in to print, email, fax or save your boarding pass any time up to 1 hour before your flight departs.
After you've printed your boarding pass, click 'View check-in summary' to see your flight details, as well as those of passengers travelling with you.
When you reach this Check-in summary page, you've finished checking in online.
Review the check-in status of passengers in your booking and then click 'Exit Online Check-in'.
Once you've finished checking in online, take your printed boarding pass with you and speed through the airport.
If you have hold baggage, just take it to the Fast Bag Drop. If you don't have bags, you can head straight to security and through to Departures.
Haven't printed your boarding pass?
Don't worry if you've forgotten. You can print it quickly and easily using a Check-in Kiosk at the airport.
