Hôtel Madame Rêve - Paris

Glamourous, luxurious and quirky, Hôtel Madame Rêve stands out from the crowd. Built in 1888, this once 24-hour post office has been thoughtfully restored by restaurateur Laurent Taïeb. The décor is grand yet groovy, with plenty of artful nods to the post office it once was – expect delicate woodwork, velvet curtains and golden-brown hues throughout, and an attractive lobby with a resplendent mural of Madame Rêve herself. Its two restaurants, fitness studio and boudoir style spa provide all the comforts needed, while the rooftop terrace, laden with planting, provides truly magnificent views over the city. What’s more, its enviable location puts it in the heart of Paris, close to the most iconic attractions.

Hôtel Madame Rêve is located in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris, with the Louvre Bourse de Commerce and Eglise Saint Eustache all within 500 metres of the hotel. The building itself is a landmark, recognisable as the Louvre Post Office which still operates within the hotel. The surrounding streets are lined with cafes and galleries such as the Pinault Collection, and you’re less than a mile from The Centre Pompidou, the Palais-Royal Garden and Tuileries Garden. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 21 miles away.

Design-led rooms are wood panelled and don a warm golden-brown colour scheme, as “life must be golden” according to interior designer Andree Putman. Retro sideboards, mahogany wood panelling and curvy lighting give a 70s feel, while custom-made or lovingly restored furnishings, many of which were sourced by French Artisans, bring a grand air to the rooms. All rooms are located on the top floor (which is the third floor but six floors up) and overlook either the peaceful internal gardens or face the city – some of which overlook the Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur and Notre-Dame cathedral. Modern luxuries such as blackout blinds, plush bedding and smart room controls ensure a sound night’s sleep.
