The resort has an impressive range of top-notch land and water activities to fill your time, the majority of which are part of the all-inclusive plan. You can play tennis, pickleball, basketball, racquetball and volleyball (pool and beach) anytime, as well as croquet, table tennis, lawn chess, bocce ball and shuffleboard. Challenge your partner to a game of pool, snooker or darts, or spend a leisurely afternoon perfecting the art of backgammon. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness centre kitted out with TechnoGym equipment, including elliptical machines, stair climbers, treadmills and exercise bikes. Personal training sessions are available, as are a variety of fitness classes.

As for water sports, you’ve got plenty to choose from, with professional instructors to guide you. Paddle boarding, windsurfing and kayaking are all included, or you can jump on a Hobie Cat, an aquatrike or the glass bottom boat, seeing the underwater world come to life. Boogie boarding, tubing and snorkelling are popular activities, in addition to scuba dives, which are held twice a day by PADI certified divers at some of the Caribbean’s most breathtaking dive sites.

Golf enthusiasts couldn’t be better placed, as green fees are included at the Upton Estate Golf & Country Club. Jump on the complimentary transport to and from the stunning 18-hole, emerald fairway overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and join the complimentary PGA-certified clinics, held at the Club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can even splash out on PGA golf lessons, arranged at the tour Desk or at the Club (extra charge).

At the resort, there are two gorgeous pools to splash in, that feature an incredible glass-panel infinity edge, offering uninterrupted views across the unimaginably pretty beach. Three further river pools meander around the standalone Coyaba Swim-Up Rondoval villas. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols around the pools, plus you have access to sumptuous black and white striped double cabanas. Cabana service includes being pampered by your dedicated Cabana Butler, who’ll deliver cold towels, suntan oils, a morning fruit platter and continental breakfast, lunch and fresh drinks.

The property is also home to the exclusive Red Lane Spa, offering Caribbean-inspired spa treatments using natural regional products. The Spa has luxurious treatment rooms, a beauty salon, a yoga pavilion, a steam room, plunge pools and several intimate relaxation areas. Why not try the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage that harnesses the healing benefits of Himalayan salt and heat therapy, using warmed Himalayan salt stones. It’s meant to soothe muscle tension, leaving you feeling relaxed.

As the sun sets, the resort puts on a dazzling display of live music, DJ sets, shows and theme nights, open mic night, beach parties and after-hours parties.

Dining information

With 12 restaurants and nine bars to choose from, you will not go hungry or thirsty. The open-air Saltaire is set right by the beach and is the perfect place for buffet breakfast or lunch. Take a seat next door at Edessa, which is also open for breakfast – it transforms into a gorgeous Greek restaurant in the evening. Be sure to try the spanakopita (spinach and feta wrapped in filo parcels) and lamb chops, followed by citrus olive oil cake with orange salad and Frangelico Chantilly. You’ll be hard pushed to stay away from Jerk Shack for feet-in-the-sand, authentic Caribbean dishes. Firm favourites for lunch include fried sweetcorn cakes and seafood infused with local allspice and scotch bonnet pepper, while dinner must-tries are traditional brown stew made with cane juice vinegar or the escovitch snapper with spicy pickled vegetables. Galene Seaside Grill specialises in fresh fish – the grilled blackened mahi mahi salad is hard to resist, alternatively Isola Pizzeria offers a varied menu of oven baked pizzas. Head to Cascata for traditional Italian dishes, or savour delicately prepared sushi at Hanami. Otherwise, stop by the two fusion restaurants – Zuka serving central and South American dishes and Banyu for a taste of Asia. For something special, reserve a table at L’Amande for exquisitely prepared French dishes.

There’s also a lovely coffee shop for sweet treats and freshly ground coffee from the Blue Mountains, as well as Dunn’s Rum Club to sample snacks and small plates, paired with carefully curated Jamaican rums. Additional bar options include the art deco inspired Lapidus Lounge & Bar, the glamorous rooftop Ocarina Lounge & Bar offering uninterrupted ocean views, and the Laughing Waters Beach Bar, for cool vibes and cocktails.
