Whether you would like a meal for your little ones or a special meal to meet your dietary requirements, we will do our best to supply your preferred choice.

When can I order my special meal?

We are pleased to re-introduce Kosher meals on flights from North America to the UK from 1 February 2021.

Types of special meals available

British Airways

Information
Lacto-ovo-vegetarian This is a vegetarian meal that may include eggs and dairy products.
Vegan vegetarian This is a strictly vegetarian meal that is completely free of animal products, including honey, eggs, and dairy products.
Asian vegetarian

This is a vegetarian meal flavoured with spices from the Indian sub-continent, It can be mildly spiced.

Hindu This meal is prepared according to the requirements of the Hindu religion. This meal will not contain beef products and is flavoured with spices from the Indian sub-continent and mildly spiced.
Halal 

Prepared in accordance with Halal Guidelines.

Does not contain pork, by-products of pork or ingredients containing alcohol.

Jain

This is an Indian vegetarian meal prepared in accordance to Jain principles.

Jain meals are made using appropriate vegetables and grains.

Kosher

Prepared according to Jewish dietary law.

Not available on flights to London from Bahrain, Bangalore, Beijing Cancun, Caribbean, Hyderabad, Incheon, Kuwait, Lima, Nairobi, Mauritius, Shanghai, Riyadh, Jeddah, San Jose (Costa Rica) Santiago.

Child meal

This may be a non-vegetarian meal that is suitable for young travellers between the ages of 2-12 years.

May contain beef and pork products.

Baby meal

On board our long-haul flights, we offer baby bottle/food warming facilities and also a limited stock of baby food and milk.

It is not possible to order baby meals and we cannot sterilise bottles or provide sterilised water on board. We recommend to carry your own baby food and equipment in your hand baggage.

Diabetic

This is a diabetic meal that contains minimal sugar content with an equal balance of proteins, fats, fibre, and complex carbohydrates.

Here's some information on meal service times to help you plan your medication on your journey.

  • On long-haul flights, we usually serve the main meal within two hours of take-off and then a smaller meal within two hours of landing time. If your flight is overnight, this will be breakfast. If your flight is less than 8.5 hours. we will offer you a small snack.

  • On short-haul routes, we usually serve refreshments and snacks within the first 90 minutes of the flight.

Gluten intolerant

This meal is for customers on a gluten-free diet.

Does not contain wheat, wheat flour, barley oats, rye, bread, cakes (unless wheat free), pastry or any flour-based products.

Low calorie

This meal is for customers on a low-calorie diet. 

Will not contain fried or fatty foods, sugar, full cream dairy products, fatty meats, sweets, sauces such as mayonnaise, and salad dressing.

Low fat This meal is for customers on a low fat diet with limited amounts of saturated fat.
Low salt This meal is for customers who are on a low-sodium diet where no salt is added during preparation.
Low lactose This meal is for customers who are lactose-intolerant and cannot consume dairy products e.g. cheese, milk.

A meat free, spicy meal. Does not contain fish, shellfish, meat, poultry or eggs.
Muslim
Does not contain pork, by products of pork or ingredients containing alcohol. All meats come from ritually slaughtered animals.
Kosher
Prepared to comply with jewish dietary laws.
