Bag limitations

During busy travel seasons, limitations on checked bags and boxes apply to some destinations.

Seasonal and year-round limitations for checked bags have been updated as of April 26, 2022.

What you can bring

When there are bag limitations you can only bring:

Unless there are other restrictions, you can also bring:

  • 1 carry-on item
  • 1 personal item

Carry-on bags

You can also travel with:

  • Sports equipment (additional charges may apply)
  • Assistive devices for customers with disabilities
  • Bags weighing 51 - 70 lbs. (23.1 - 32 kgs) for an applicable charge

What you can’t bring

When traveling to select destinations with bag limitations, you can't travel with:

  • Overweight items (more than 70lb / 32kgs)
  • Oversized items
  • Excess bags (only 2 checked bags allowed)
  • Boxes*

*A “box” is any container that isn’t normally used for transporting items for air travel; this includes plastic tubs, containers and coolers.

Year-round limitations

Oversize, overweight and excess bag limitations apply for select cities. You can only check 2 bags to these destinations:

Havana, Cuba (HAV)

Only 2 checked bags with a maximum weight of 70 lbs / 32 kg each plus 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item are allowed per passenger traveling to Cuba with no exceptions.

Port au Prince, Haiti (PAP)

There is a permanent embargo on boxes as well as excess, oversize and overweight bag charges.

Managua, Nicaragua (MGA)
