Pestana Royal All Inclusive Ocean & SPA Resort lies in the capital of Madeira, with direct access to Funchal’s largest public beach. This sprawling resort is situated in the city of Funchal on Madeira’s scenic south coast with lofty views across the Atlantic Ocean and the Cabo Girao hillside. The hotel offers a regular shuttle service, on a first come, first served basis, to Funchal city. Explore the Old Town’s cobblestoned streets, historical buildings, 15th century cathedral and authentic restaurants. Alternatively, you can ride the Madeira cable cars or wander around the colourful botanical gardens (around five miles away). The nearest airport is Madeira Airport, less than 18 miles from the property.
The inviting rooms are decorated in magnolia tones. Classic rooms start at 21 m2, but you’ll have to upgrade for a balcony. The Deluxe Balcony Sea View rooms are slightly larger, and they present optimum views of across the Atlantic Ocean. The Deluxe Balcony Superior rooms are even more spacious, at 38 m2 – but suites are ideal for groups or families, as they offer the utmost space and privacy, with a separate bedroom and living area.

The vast outdoor poolscape is perfect for relaxation. It’s backed by tropical trees and plants, and complete with a swim-up bar, open-air solarium and inspirational views across the Atlantic Ocean. The main pool is for adults only, and there’s a shallower pool for children nearby. Sun loungers and umbrellas encircle both pools.
The Magic Spa houses another indoor swimming pool, overlooking the hotel’s central garden. Experienced qualified therapists deliver a range of signature face and body treatments, available for a supplement charge, using natural ingredients or Magic Potion products. Before your treatment, you can use the whirlpool, relaxation room and sauna.
Immerse yourself in a range of activities around the resort, where you’ll find a tennis court, a mini-golf circuit, a fully equipped gym and a multi-sports court. There’s also the option to hire bikes or schedule boat trips for an additional charge. Children between the age of 4 and 12 years old can make friends at the kids' club, where they can play games or enjoy arts and crafts activities (pre-booking is required, available from July to September).
Convenient on-site parking is available too, for an extra daily charge per car.

The resort is home to one main restaurant restaurant, one themed restaurant and two bars. São Lourenço Garden Terrace is the bright main restaurant, serving set menu cuisine. Throughout the day, you can head to the hotel’s third floor, to the Sunset Pool Bar, where you can order drinks, snacks and light salads. In the early evening, this is the ideal spot to watch the sunset over Cabo Girão.
For dinner, the a la carte restaurant Botanic overlooks the exotic hotel gardens and specialises in local Madeiran cuisine (open seasonally). Extend your evening at the Primavera Bar & Lounge, where you’ll discover a classic bar and live music.
