Baa Atoll is made up of four separate natural atolls, and Finolhu lies on the largest of them all. It boasts one of the longest sandbanks in the Maldives, surrounded by dappled, turquoise waters which are teeming with incredible marine life. The resort can be reached via a seaplane from Velana International Airport in about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Airport and, from there, take a 30-minute speedboat ride to Baa Atoll.
There’s a tempting selection of 125 luxurious villas at Finolhu, starting with the entry-level Lagoon Villas which lie above the water, offering a private sun deck and direct lagoon access. Upgraded Ocean Pool Villas provide a private freshwater swimming pool, plus direct entry to the Indian Ocean, while Beach Villas lead out to a private section of beach. Private Pool Villas have their own tropical garden and sun loungers on the beach, as well as a private pool and a spacious terrace. Begin the day at the all-day buffet restaurant, Beach Kitchen, located right by the sea. Here you can soak up fabulous sea vistas – and possibly glimpse dolphins in their natural habitat. A range of freshly prepared, international dishes are served here, including tasty options for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. On various evenings, the dinners focus on a particular cuisine, serving Italian, Asian or Maldivian specialties.
If you prefer something lighter for breakfast or lunch, head to the Milk Lab to order healthy snacks, ice creams, fresh milkshakes, coffees and protein drinks (not included on all-inclusive). There’s also a pizza counter and the rustic Crab Shack, which is situated halfway along the stretching sandbank. When you arrive here, you can savour plenty of delicious seafood dishes, fine wines and creative cocktails. When the sun sets there's a chilled party scene familiar with Ibiza or Mykonos.
In the evening, tantalise your taste buds at the relaxed Arabian Grill. Specializing in Middle Eastern fare, the restaurant serves sizzling meats, roasted vegetables, fresh salads and mezze-style appetisers. Alternatively, opt for a fine dining experience over the Indian Ocean at the Asian-inspired Kanusan restaurant. This romantic spot has its own bar where you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks, and you can dine alfresco on the ocean veranda.
After dinner entertainment is offered at the Beach Club, whether it’s colourful acrobatic performances, pool parties or a live DJ set.
