For a relatively small property, the facilities here are extensive. Not only do you have access to a secluded, picturesque beach – where drinks service is available so there’s no need to move from your shade and sunbed, there's also a good-sized swimming pool with a self-service swim-up bar.

For a break from the sun, retreat to the beautiful tropical grounds, brimming with palms, ferns, flamboyants, fruit trees, ginger lilies and hibiscus. The flora is numbered and referenced in an illustrated guide available in your room and free tours with the head gardener are offered each week. Expect to see hummingbirds, herons and various doves while you meander around the lovely surroundings.

Nestled within the trees and flowers is the open-air Garden Spa, offering spa treatments in a calm and natural atmosphere, while the outdoor pavilion holds both yoga and Pilates classes. You can also access kayaks, paddleboards and Hobie Cats at the water sports centre or try out the keep-fit trail around the grounds where workout suggestions are featured at each stop.

Dining at East Winds, whatever time of day, is an occasion, despite only having one main oceanfront restaurant which is open for every meal. The variety of food is unbeatable, where the focus lies in carefully prepared meals using organic vegetables and a daily catch delivered by local fishermen. Breakfast and lunch are casual meals, served buffet style where no dress code applies. Be sure to pick up a glass of ‘therapy’ made from fresh fruits and vegetables every morning or grab a little snack in between meals if you are peckish. The restaurant comes into its own at dinner time, where an evening dress code applies and you are treated to a four-course, lavish silver service menu, complemented with Champagne, as well as a choice of wine from the hotel’s wine cellar.

For something special, arrangements can be made to sit under thatched gazebos along the beachfront, for a private lunch or dinner dining experience.

DRESS CODE. Gentleman are required to wear long trousers for evening cocktails and dinner and no sleeveless shirts are to be worn in the restaurant or bar in the evenings.
