Home to one of the largest collections of African art in the United States, the African-influenced Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge also enjoys two pools – one with a water park, five restaurants and complimentary Walt Disney World Resort transport.
Located in the Disney’s Animal Kingdom resort area, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is one mile away. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is less than four miles from the resort and Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park and Disney Springs are all under seven miles from the hotel – accessible by a regular Disney bus shuttle. The resort is 23 miles from Orlando International Airport.
Inspired by a kraal – a traditional African village, the hotel is arranged in a horseshoe shape, surrounding four savannahs. Accommodation ranges from standard, pool or savannah view rooms, to one or two-bedroom suites and Presidential Suites. African-style decoration continues into the rooms, featuring dark wood furniture, rich tones of orange and gold, and patterned fabrics. All options are equipped with Disney toiletries, coffee machines, a safe and a hairdryer. Two pools – Uzima Springs Pool located next to the main building and Samawati Springs Pool located on the west side of the resort at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani – feature water slides and zero-depth entry points. There’s also Uwanja Camp water playground next to Samawati Springs Pool, with zones to suit children aged four and above. Young guests can play in a gently bubbling geyser, run around the leaky water tower and dodge the squirting African Irises, while those aged eight and over can play with water cannons.
On dry land, Hakunta Matata Playground is open 24-hours and the Fun and Games Arcade provides classic arcade and video games. The whole family can also get together around an evening campfire, with outdoor screenings of Disney films available on select nights.
The resort is safari-inspired and mimics the natural habitat too. Expect to see over 30 species of African wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, gazelles, kudu and flamingos roaming this 43-acre reserve.

Start your day with the flavours of Africa and India at Sanaa, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or tuck into a buffet at Boma, serving flavours from over 50 African countries alongside American favourites. The Mara also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with African stew, burgers, flatbreads and many other options. Sip a selection of African wines at Sanaa lounge, or enjoy with dinner at Jiko – offering a mixture of African, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine, with child-friendly options also available. Four bars – one next to each pool and another with an outdoor fire pit – provide refreshments throughout the day.
