Set in the Maldives, the laidback Meeru Maldives Resort Island offers four restaurants, a range of accommodation, extensive water sports facilities, two tranquil spa locations and an optional all-inclusive package. Its unique facilities include a nine-hole golf course, a football field, two games rooms and a small museum. Children will appreciate the separate kids’ and teens’ clubs, the wading pool and the on-site playground, while adults can retreat to the secluded adult-only pool, or savour light bites and refreshments in one of six swish bars.
Meeru Maldives Resort Island sits on an 80-acre island in the Maldives’ stunning North Male Atoll. The island’s sweeping white sandy beaches are lined with coconut palm trees, and the lagoon’s warm shallow waters are filled with incredible marine life. You can catch a free dhoni boat out to the house reef for snorkelling, or enjoy an endless array of water sports closer to the shore. The resort is around a 55-minute speedboat transfer from Male International Airport.
The rooms and villas are situated in the gardens, along the beachfront or on stilts above the Indian Ocean. They are decorated in tropical colours and feature a sitting area and private terrace. Most rooms include a semi-outdoor bathroom, apart from the standard Garden rooms, which are set in a U-shaped block in the tropical grounds. Beach Villas lie in classic wooden bungalows along the beachfront, as do Jacuzzi Beach villas, which boast an outdoor hot tub. Meanwhile, Water Front Villas are located close to the water’s edge, and the luxurious adult-only Jacuzzi Water Villas sit over the water with a private sun deck, Jacuzzi for two and steps that lead directly into the lagoon.

The huge range of facilities makes this resort perfect for all ages. There are two freshwater swimming pools (including an infinity pool for adults-only) and a children’s wading pool. You can explore the lagoon’s underwater world by booking PADI-certified courses and guided activities on reef conservation at the dive centre. One snorkelling trip to the house reef is also included per stay, and you can try a range of water sports offshore, such as windsurfing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.
At the island’s core, you’ll find a driving range and nine-hole 'pitch ‘n putt' golf course, a fitness centre, a football pitch, a badminton court and two illuminated paddle-tennis courts. There’s also the option to play beach volleyball, hire a bike and hang out in the two games rooms. Children can access the separate kids’ and teens’ clubs or play in the open-air playground. Plus, there’s a small museum dedicated to Maldivian history and culture, which houses the impressive blue whale skeleton.
Retreat to the television room or library for a spot of relaxation, or indulge at the Duniye Spa, which is split across two sites – one is above the water and the other is on land. For a supplement charge, you can book a wealth of spa treatments that incorporate organic ingredients, as well as special spa packages for couples.
In the evenings, enjoy a Maldivian culture and history presentation, dance shows, live DJ performances, movie nights and live music.
