Water sports enthusiasts will be in their element herewith complimentary snorkelling, kayaking and pedal boating in the crystal-clear waters. You can also head to the boat house to try windsurfing, water skiing, wake boarding, flyboarding and hoverboarding for a supplementary charge – or visit the resort’s PADI dive centre to book an unforgettable diving experience at the surrounding colourful reefs (available for additional charge).

The resort offers an incredible choice of land-based activities, too, including tennis and volleyball. You can also take a morning jog around the island, swim in two ocean view pools, or visit the gym if you’re feeling particularly energetic. Otherwise, relax during a guided meditation session. Romance is on the cards, too, with sunset cruises, outdoor cinema screenings and couples’ yoga sessions.

Children between the ages of 3 and 12 will be well cared for at PLAY, where trained staff supervise a wealth of cultural and ecological activities, as well as sports, outdoor games and art classes. Meanwhile, the complimentary Studio 17 teens' club for guests aged 12 to 17 provides local dance classes, beach activities and adventures around the island.

In the meantime, adults can luxuriate in the oceanfront spa, which features plunge pools, a sauna and a hammam. Expert therapists will use a range of natural organic products during your personalised treatment, whether you book the signature ‘Aramu Dathuru Massage’ or an authentic ‘Zhengliao Chinese Medicine Treatment’ (available for a supplement charge).

The resort’s focus on sustainability is paramount. The solar panels on the rooftops and out at sea generate enough energy to power all villas during the daytime, and there’s an on-site water plant, vegetable garden and a Junk Art Studio (where you can upcycle items). Single-use plastics have been banned on the island, and you are encouraged to use a bicycle or hop on one of the solar-powered shuttles to get around.

If you’re in need of a caffeine fix, sip freshly roasted, island-blend coffee at Café LUX before enjoying a casual lunch at Lagoon Bar. You can also visit Beach Rouge to savour wood-fired pizzas and listen to chilled music during the day, before dancing the night away on the floating dance floor with a resident DJ. Senses Bar and Lounge also offers cocktails, Sri Lankan teas and light lunches.

Dine on salads and grilled seafood for lunch beside the pool, and tuck into tagines and tropical sorbets at Senses Restaurant over dinner. Indulge in Italian favourites at Allegria Restaurant, accompanied by a varied wine list, or enjoy the finest Kobe beef at Umami. East Market promises a culinary fusion journey through Thailand, Taiwan, China, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as international favourites. Make a final stop at the overwater East Bar in the evening for cocktails with fabulous Indian Ocean vistas.
