The three inviting outdoor pools include a fabulous beach pool with underwater music, a heated pool next to the Votsalo Lounge and the Arsenali Pool, which boasts incredible views across the coast. There are also two kids’ pool situated near the beach pool, including a large, shallow pool that’s ideal for babies and younger children. Otherwise, take a gentle stroll to the pebbled beach – or ride on the resort’s glass funicular – to the wooden decks with sun loungers and thatch umbrellas. The Isola Beach Club is set further back from the beach, among the verdant olive trees, offering a relaxed ambience, light meals and refreshing drinks.

The Elounda Spa sits directly on the beach, boasting serene views across the Aegean Sea. It features therapy baths, a thalassotherapy pool and a marble steam room. You can book a wide choice of treatments here for a supplementary charge – including couples’ massages, anti-ageing facials, thalassotherapy treatments, locally-inspired rituals and special spa packages for parents and children. There’s also a modern fitness centre with Technogym equipment and complimentary fitness classes.

Families can enjoy the playground and a supervised kids’ club for 3- to 12-year-olds. The whole family can also watch movies under the stars at the open-air theatre, Therino, or book a range of family-friendly excursions to local towns, historical sites and places of natural beauty. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy yoga sessions, Cretan dance classes, wine tastings and tennis on the floodlit courts. Water sports, bicycle hire and babysitting service are also available in resort, subject to an additional charge.

Take part in an open fire cooking session or hand-pick ingredients alongside the hotel’s Executive Chef as part of the Phāea Farmers Feast at the Blue Palace’s Organic Garden.

The five restaurants serve high-quality Cretan and international dishes. Start your day on the sea view terrace at Olea, where you can savour an American buffet breakfast and cooked-to-order egg dishes, accompanied with Champagne. There’s also a traditional Cretan table here, offering island specialities, such as kalitsounia, sweet pastries, small pies, yogurts, honey, cheeses and fresh fruits. In the evening, they serve a variety of buffet dishes with a seasonal Mediterranean flair.

Open for dinner, the Blue Door serves Cretan seafood specialities in a restored fisherman's stone house, right beside the shore, while Isola specialises in Italian cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. You can also stop by the Arsenali Lounge Bar for a cocktail or iced coffee, before heading to the Isola Beach Club for a light lunch.

In the evenings, enjoy an al fresco dining experience at the hotel’s organic garden restaurant, Anthós. Watch chefs prepare your meal in the open-air kitchen, while you sit back with a glass of local wine, admiring views of Spinalonga Island. Alternatively, you can feast on Asian-fusion delicacies at Asia Deep Blue, where the inspiring menu incorporates delicious dumplings, bao buns and classic sushi favourites.

The paid Half Board package includes the dine-around experience, where you can choose to have lunch at either Isola or Blue Door in exchange for their dinner in any of the a la carte restaurants. Select items are at a supplement. Beverages are excluded.

There’s a casual dress code in most restaurants, excluding Anthós where there is a smart causal dress code.
