Overview
VidaMar Resort Madeira boasts a prime oceanfront location, a huge sea platform with direct Atlantic access and three infinity pools. It’s also home to a great choice of accommodation for friends, couples or families, a unique half board Dine Around plan which offers a discount towards a la carte dinners, a spa and health club.
Surrounded by the lush tropical vegetation that the island is known for, this resort is sat on the south coast of Madeira, less than two miles from the capital of Funchal. While you’ve got a wealth of sun worshipping opportunities at the resort, Funchal’s popular lido bathing complex and seafront promenade is less than 500 metres away, offering public pools and a handful of restaurants. Slightly further afield, Monte Palace Madeira, home to 100,000 plant species, as well as art, is four miles up Funchal’s hillside, or venture 14 miles into the Madeiran mountains to Pico do Arieiro, the island's third highest peak, known for its mesmerising sunrise views. Madeira Airport is 15 miles away.
Relax on your balcony with views of the tropical plants and palm trees in the extensive gardens, or opt for an upgraded room with uninterrupted, breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean. Divided into two towers, rooms and suites are elegant in design, catering for couples and large families – all providing facilities to match the comforts of home. The gem of this resort’s accommodation is the Premier Junior Suite. Featuring attractive, fresh decor, with cream, gold and rust tones, these junior suites have a sleeping area with eye-catching buckled headboards and a seating area with pretty muralled wallpaper, leading to a patio or balcony. The sleeping and lounging zones are separated by a wardrobe partition, which lets in plenty of light with glass panels on both sides. Pale grey tiled bathrooms have eco-friendly toiletries, rainfall showers and modern, black-framed mirrors.

Dining information
The resort offers a unique half board Dine Around concept with open air, sea view and sunset dining options. Breakfast and dinner at Ocean Buffet Restaurant are included on the half board plan and the Dine Around concept offers a discount towards dinner at any other resort restaurant (dining reservations are required 24-hours in advance for themed restaurants).
Ocean Buffet Restaurant is the resort’s main eatery, where live cooking stations provide plenty of choice for all tastebuds. Steps from the ocean, poolside Sabor a Mar offers lunch time eats including fresh fish – try the popular black scabbard fish – as well as plenty of kids’ options. From mid afternoon until late evening, you can guess the secret pizza recipes at Mamma Mia’s and tuck into salads, soups, antipasti, risottos and a host of pasta dishes. Save room for Italian classics for pudding, including tiramisu and panna cotta. You can also head to Koi Sushi Restaurant, where freshly crafted sushi steals the spotlight on the menu - paired perfectly with breathtaking sea views. Venture just outside of the resort to visit Casa das Espetadas, specialising in traditional Madeiran cooking, with a wood-fired oven. Try the restaurant's namesake, espetadas – meat skewered with laurel sticks, and tuck into bolo do caco – a popular Madeiran bread.
During the day, retreat to the Ocean Lounge Bar, a secluded bar serving refreshments and cocktails with ocean views. After dark, the modern Lisboa Bar proffers a range of local and international drinks alongside smooth music or live performances. Sip a local favourite – the poncha is made with aguardente de cana (distilled sugar cane juice), honey, sugar and orange or lemon.
