Wine & Books Lisboa Hotel is a small, chic boutique hideaway in the quiet Ajuda district of Lisbon. Inspired by the best of Portuguese culture – literature, food, wine, fado and hospitality – this hotel offers a modern spin on the traditional, extending from the book-lined walls to the welcoming restaurant and bar.
Sat on the edge of the Ajuda and Belem areas, the hotel is opposite the beautiful Memoria Church, which looks even more impressive when it's illuminated in the evening. The 17th Century Ajuda Palace and the country’s oldest botanical garden, Ajuda Botanical Gardens, which overlook Belem and the Tagus River, are within half a mile of the hotel. The centre of Lisbon is five miles east, and its airport is around nine miles north east.
With only 24 rooms, the hotel has a very intimate feel. Public areas feel warm, with deep woods and leather-look textures. Pale coloured accommodation has gold accents and gold hardware adorns the glass shower cabin which separates sleeping and bathroom areas. Rooms range through Standard, Superior and Deluxe – Superior rooms have the best neighbourhood views, while Deluxe rooms offer Memoria Church views from a private balcony. Premium Suites have these same attractive views, as well as over twice the space.

Dining information
In tribute to the Memoria Church, Tasca da Memoria restaurant follows the same ethos as the hotel in which it sits – a modern taken on tradition, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar offers plenty of Portuguese snacks, paired with a plentiful collection of Portuguese wines.
