Local information
Directions from Cape Town:From the N2 / Cape Town International Airport. Approaching Somerset West turn left at the Stellenbosch sign. At the stop sign turn left. Continue straight on this road (R44) for 10 to 15 minutes. Look out for the Engen petrol station on your right at a traffic light. Carry on straight over this traffic light and then take the first road right. This is Paradyskloof Street. Proceed up Paradyskloof Street until you reach the roundabout. From here you can follow the Majeka signs. When you reach Majeka House the main entrance is at the second gate. Directions from the N1: From the N1 take the R304 / Stellenbosch turnoff. As you enter town carry on straight until you reach the second traffic light (the Mercedes Benz dealership will be on your right. Turn right here onto the R44. Disregard all turns to left or right and after about 4 km you will see the Parmalat sign on your left. Turn left at the first street about 200m after Parmalat which is Paradyskloof Street. Proceed up Paradyskloof Street until you reach the roundabout. From here you can follow the Majeka signs. When you reach Majeka House the main entrance is at the second gate. Stellenbosch surrounds: Stellenbosch is fast becoming the gourmet capital of South Africa with a number of its restaurants having featured consistently in Eat Out Top 10 in the last few years. As a guest of the hotel, they would happily try make reservations for you. Please bear in mind that these restaurants can become really busy. Majeka House top list: Christophe, Rust & Vrede, Ouverture, Tokara, Terroir, Jardines. Stellenbosch provides a superb venue for golfing. Recommendations: De Zalze (3 minutes drive). Erinvale (15 minutes drive - Somerset West). Devonvale (15 minutes drive). Pearl Valley (35 minutes drive) - currently the home of the South African Open. Stellenbosch has a wonderful array of interesting shops and galleries - we would be remiss if we did not mention Karoo Classics, The Red Teapot and the Rupert Museum.
