Overview

The Radisson Aquatica Resort in Barbados is set on the pristine white sand beachfront of Carlisle Bay on Needham’s Point. The calm waters here often provide the perfect conditions for snorkelling, swimming and other water sports. This large, multi-storey hotel offers a waterfront pier restaurant, a pool above the beach and spacious accommodation, most offering lovely ocean or island views.

Situated on the eponymous Aquatic Gap, the hotel enjoys a beautiful long stretch of beach in the Garrison Historic Area – a Unesco World Heritage Site. The famous Garrison Savannah Racetrack lies less than half a mile away. Just over two miles away is the island’s commercial capital city, Bridgetown, where you can browse local craft markets and shops. Grantley Adams International Airport is just under ten miles away.

All rooms are generously appointed and are decorated with cream tile floors, wooden furniture and patterned rugs and curtains. Each room includes an assortment of amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, iPod charging station, refrigerator and tea and coffee facilities. There’s an outdoor pool area designed for relaxation, although it’s relatively small, considering the size of the property. You’ll find lush palm trees and an elevated sundeck close to the pool, which overlooks the ocean and is furnished with wicker sun loungers and colourful umbrellas. The pool itself is round and divided into two halves, with a short waterfall feature in between.

On the beach there are plastic lounge chairs and umbrellas to use, and the waters are ideal for a range of water sports. You may spy local racehorses having a swim in the morning, and you can admire stunning sunsets from the shoreline come evening. The hotel provides a friendly beach service, so you can order refreshments throughout the day.

After recharging, make use on the on-site fitness centre, which is equipped with weights, treadmills and exercise bikes. You can also stop by the concierge desk for help arranging tours and excursions on the island.

Dining information

The Aquatic Club Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with a speciality snack menu all year-round. This open-air restaurant is located on the edge of the beach and offers beautiful views across the bay. Enjoy local and international specialities, whether you attend for the breakfast buffet, a la carte dinner menu or Sunday Bajan Buffet. A daily complimentary breakfast is offered with some room types and this includes fruit, breakfast bars, tea and coffee.

There’s also the poolside Neptune’s Grill, which is a casual eatery serving drinks, snacks and lunches daily.

In-room dining is available, too, and there’s a weekly Manager’s Cocktail Party.
