If you’re after a tranquil take on a Venetian getaway, look no further than Hyatt Centric Murano Venice. This chic hotel is located on Murano– Venice’s laid-back neighbour, known throughout the world for its artisanal glassmaking history. Bringing the past and present together, the hotel is set within the historic walls of a former glass factory, and inside, a modern spin on Venetian decor awaits, as do attentive staff and delicious local dining.
Murano is located north east of Venice, roughly a 15-minute vaporetto ride away. It’s comprised of seven islands connected by bridges and is still dotted with glass factories and museums today. Separated from the bustling centre of Venice, Murano offers a more relaxed setting, though its rich history, pretty architecture and canals still draws many visitors. The hotel is right beside a vaporetto stop, providing easy access to Venice, as well as the islands of Burano, known for its lace work, and Torcello, a swampy island home to a mosaic-filled cathedral. The hotel is roughly a 40-minute boat trip from Venice Marco Polo Airport.
Cradled by the walls of a historic glass factory, the modern construction within respects the surrounding architecture, with terracotta walls studded with curved factory-style windows. Decor throughout the hotel reflects its Venetian surroundings – interiors blend lagoon-blue in the main areas and artwork and lighting designed by the well-known Murano glass company, Venini, is dotted throughout. King/Twin Rooms are compact but elegant, with hardwood floors, a seating area and calming latte tones – some also have wallpaper murals with illustrations of Venice. Duplex Suites feature a striking slate coloured metal staircase, which join the lower seating area to the upper sleeping area, as well as minimalist modern furnishings, hardwood floors and white walls. Owing to the unique construction of the hotel, most rooms look out to the historic brick walls – you can catch glimpses of the city through the old windows.
