Baglioni Resort Sardinia is a luxurious, boutique property, situated on the north-east coast of the island. It’s undeniably chic and oozes laid-back, coastal living vibes, featuring spacious rooms and suites and two upscale restaurants – one Michelin-starred. The resort is located in a very private, untamed (and undeveloped) area, around five miles north of San Teodoro. It sits within the protected marine area of Tavolara, which leads onto the unblemished and unimaginable beach of Spiaggia Lu Impostu and Cala Brandinchi cove. Take a boat from Porto San Paolo (around six miles away) to the islands of Tavolara and Molara, to view the natural surroundings and traditional way of Sardinian life. To the south of the hotel is the colourful capital of Cagliari. Although approximately 160 miles away, it’s a must-see day trip to explore this historical centre, especially the district of Il Castello. The hotel is under 14 miles from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport.
The property has a charming villa feel to it, where low-rise stone buildings blend seamlessly into well-tended, fragrant gardens. The accommodation is spacious, decorated in an understated colour scheme of creams, taupe and greys, offset by patterned cushions and tapestries by local artisans. They are elegantly furnished and offer wonderful sea or garden views from your terrace or balcony. Families should opt for a two-bedroom family room, providing a large interconnecting space with two bathrooms.

The pool is incredibly inviting, surrounded by sumptuous double daybeds, styled with plump, peppermint cushions and chiffon curtains blowing in the Mediterranean breeze. The beach is within walking distance and is a little piece of paradise, boasting pristine white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. It’s utterly idyllic and perfect for swimming, snorkelling or snoozing under a parasol. The gym is open 24-hours a day and is equipped with Technogym cardio machines, plus you can enjoy yoga and meditation classes in the garden. Kids between 3 and 12 years are kept entertained with a varied programme of games, workshops and age-appropriate activities, plus there’s a dedicated kids’ pool and a small garden. In addition, the stunning AURA SPA provides a full menu of treatments, including massages, facial and signature rituals, plus a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and ice fountain.
Dining information
The resort offers two sensational on-site restaurants, as well as two bars. Mirto Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving classic and modern Mediterranean specialities, paired with superb wines from the restaurant’s cellar. Feast on roast octopus with rosemary, creamed avocado and a sundried-tomato crumble, followed by sea bream cooked in its skin with a Ligurian-style stew and a crispy vegetable tempura.
The hotel’s culinary highlight is the Michelin-starred restaurant, Gusto by Sadler. An exemplary menu of Sardinian regional cuisine is created, from handmade lorighittas pasta rings in a ragu of Sardinian lamb, aubergine, pennyroyal and Sardinian pecorino, to warm lobster Catania style with vegetables from the hotel’s kitchen garden in a yellow tomato sauce. Be sure to save some space for a dessert of soft peach and muscat tart with almond ice cream.
Head over to the Pool Bar for a light lunch and refreshing drink or stop by for an aperitivo in the evening. After dinner, the Sunset Terrace Bar is an idyllic spot for a glass of Champagne or a cocktail.
