Kalima Resort & Spa is a high-end, luxurious property, set in a peaceful hillside location on Phuket’s western coast. It offers a great range of facilities for all the family including a stunning infinity pool with a swim-up bar, a heavenly spa specialising in authentic Thai treatments and a spacious fitness centre. Furthermore, the hotel features an artificial sandy beach that sits beside a lovely outdoor pool, as well as a kids’ club. Less than a mile from the tranquillity of the hotel lies the popular party area of Patong, known for its long stretch of white, sandy beach, restaurants, cafes, bars and notorious nightlife – especially along the infamous Bangla Walking Street. Patong is also home to two of Phuket’s largest shopping malls – Central Patong and Jungceylon, two night markets and an enormous Thai-themed waterpark, Andamanda Phuket. Head 21 miles south away from the crowds to experience the magnificence of the Big Budda Phuket that sits at the top of the Nakkerd Hills, towering 45-metres into the sky. Close by is the religious site of Wat Chalong Temple, the highlight of which is the architecturally stunning Grand Pagoda – which contains a small splinter from the bone of Lord Buddha. Topping every Phuket list is a boat trip to Phang Nga Bay, featuring a cluster of 40 small islands, whose limestone peaks soar out of the sea – the most recognisable being James Bond Island or Koh Tapu. Phuket International Airport is approximately 20 miles away.

Due to its hillside location, the hotel is connected by a series of steps which may be a problem for some. The rooms are incredibly spacious, minimalist in style and flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling balcony windows. Blonde wood furniture and a cream tiled floor are complemented by brightly coloured fabric, plump cushions and abstract wall art.
