Spend plenty of time sitting back by the six pools. Indoors, you’ll find a rectangular pool surrounded by towel-topped loungers and an adult-only spa pool with benches stationed beneath graceful archways. Both indoor pools are heated. Outdoors, the main pool faces the Mediterranean Sea, so you can swim in view of the horizon. Alternatively, take a seat at the outdoor swim-up bar– whose bright yellow parasols might just put you in the mood for something lemony. All four on-site pools are freshwater pools. You’ll also have access to the pool at Sabi Beach Club – and the adult-only Kora pool on the seafront, for an additional fee.

DoubleTree Malta guests receive access to Sabi Beach Club, where indulgence is highly encouraged. Recline on a lounger and toast to a day spent doing nothing but relaxing in front of spectacular sea views. There’s also a cafe mixing drinks and a restaurant serving up everything from pad Thai to sushi. Secure your sun lounger by booking your visit to the beach club in advance with the hotel.

Plan for pampering at the Myoka Spa, featuring a heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, relaxation suite, Vichy shower suite, couple’s suite and Japanese head spa suite. Choose the Maltese Escape for a unique experience inspired by local ingredients. This treatment includes a body scrub made with Maltese salt, a massage with Maltese olive oil and a face mask formulated with Maltese prickly pear. There’s also an on-site fitness centre, so you can keep up with your gym routine while you’re away.

Fuel up for island hopping and city shopping at Azure Restaurant and Terrace, serving buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. International cuisine caters to all tastes – think everything from carved specialties with puff pastry to pretty little desserts just asking to be piled up on your plate. Carvv Grill and Enoteca’s menu is more meat focussed. From T-Bone to ribeye to fillet, steak is the main star at this modern restaurant, although there are vegetarian options available.

Kora keeps things creative with platters meant for sharing and cocktails meant for clinking as you say cheers. Sabi House delivers on experience as well as taste. This restaurant next to Sabi Beach Club is all about Mediterranean flavours – twirl pasta and tuck into artisanal pizza in view of the waves and islands. If you’re a fan of tropical cocktails, try the Sabi Sunset mixed with house-made passionfruit jam.

When you’re in need of a quick bite, take a seat in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pool and sea in Ombre Cafe Bistro. The menu is simple, mostly made up of pastas, pizzas and burgers. Milkshakes and soft drinks provide plenty of refreshment, or you can flip the page to the cocktail and spirit sections. Looking for an afternoon tipple or a nightcap? Limonata Pool Bar serves up classic cocktails as palm trees sway, while Juniper Lounge Bar offers light bites and drinks – including specialty Maltese cocktails – in the hotel lobby.
