Occupying a spot on Sliema’s seafront promenade, Barcelo Fortina Hotel stands out for its unique modern architecture and and panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Sat on the Sliema peninsula, the hotel overlooks Manoel Island and the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valletta. The ferry stops just 400 metres from the hotel, which is close to a wide range of shops and restaurants, including the popular shopping mall, The Point. Away from the coast, the historic golden-walled Mdina Old City is eight miles to the east. Malta International Airport is seven miles away.
This large, ultra-modern building wouldn’t look out of place in Dubai. It’s almost sail shaped, and its pool strikingly perches over the sea’s edge. Behind the ribbed exterior, rooms are super sleek, dressed in taupe tones, with ceiling-high headboards flanked by mirrors and gold hardware accents. Marble bathrooms feature moody slate colours and large mirrors with recessed lighting. Upgrading provides better views – with partial or front-facing Mediterranean outlooks – and Deluxe Sea Front rooms add in a seating area.

Head to the Manta Lido Beach Club for a dip in the deep turquoise pool then seek shade on a sun lounger. The live DJ sets here provide the soundtrack for your stay. A generously proportioned gym features plenty of cardio equipment, as well as free weights, dumbbells and suspension straps.
