Kandima is set on a two-mile long island in Dhaalu Atoll, bordered by pristine white beaches and a natural blue lagoon. A coral reef is around five minutes away by boat; and you can book a variety of excursions to numerous nearby dive sites, including the famous Vaanee Corner, which is around 8 minutes away, and home to reef sharks, sea, turtles and a variety of coral fish. You can reach the island resort with a 30-minute flight from Male International Airport, followed by a 20-minute speedboat ride, or a direct 40-minute seaplane ride.
The 264 spacious studios and villas feature large floor-to-ceiling windows, neutral colour schemes, hardwood floors and ocean-inspired textiles. Stay along the beachfront in a standard Studio with lagoon views or choose a Beach Villa with a Swirlpool tub – some of which include a private pool. Alternatively, you can book an overwater Aqua Villa, which provides direct access to the lagoon.

Kandima’s extensive sports facilities include a modern fitness centre with a private swimming pool, a fitness pavilion that hosts group classes (including yoga), a tennis court and a football ground. The resort is also home to two oceanfront swimming pools, a snorkelling platform and comprehensive water sports and diving centre, called Aquaholics. It’s here that you can book a range of dive excursions and water activities, including parasailing, windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, catamaran sailing and banana boat rides.
The resort also houses a fabulous kids’ club, Kandiland, where children between the ages of 4 and 12 can participate in activities, supervised by certified child carers. The club features a large indoor room with toys and games, a rock-climbing wall, a soft play area, an outdoor pirate-ship playground, a splash pad and an in-ground trampoline.
You can spend relaxed days on the beach, attend cooking workshops and sign up for an art class with local Maldivian artists. You can also slip away to the esKape Spa, which is nestled in the tropical foliage of the island. Their range of therapies and treatments includes a signature sea coconut foot treatment, an anti-ageing facial and a couples spa package. Before or after your treatment, you can refresh in the steam room or take a dip in the plunge pool.
The hotel provides an array of entertainment, including live music, DJ music, cocktail making classes and pool parties.

Kandima’s extensive dining options include a buffet-style restaurant, called Flavour and Zest, where you can dine on tantalising international cuisine. This contemporary food hall features multiple live cooking stations, self-service buffet areas, a sand-floored dining zone and a kids’ corner with child-friendly food options.
A la carte offerings include Sea Dragon, a fine dining venue which specialises in authentic Chinese cuisine, and Smoked, which serves grilled fare from an open barbeque kitchen and teppanyaki grill. In the daytime, you can order fresh snacks and drinks at Deli, or grab a coffee and pastry from Aroma. Alternatively, you can head to the beachside Azure restaurant to sample a choice of Mediterranean dishes and aged wines from Cellar.
The resort’s three bars serve a variety of drinks, including cocktails. There’s the adult-only Forbidden Bar, the Breeze Pool Bar and the vibrant Beach Club, where you can watch the sun set across the ocean while DJs entertain you.
